Never read the comics, but what is a Skull?
Skrull. There is an R in there. They are an alien race. They've fought the F4 a few times. The big story line a while back was called Secret Invasion. It was revealed several hereos had been secretly replaced by Skrulls as a first wave invasion. It was a big thing on who was really a Skrull and who wasn't.

Also I heard a little rumor/theory on the death:

That could be interesting. Never was a huge fan of that character, but it's an interesting theory.

In my lengthy review a couple pages back, I forgot something that was a 'major player' in the film: Joss Whedon's humor.

It, too, was threaded throughout the film, and was as organic and integral to the progression of events as anything else in the film.  And, in trademark Joss style, it did NOT do two very specific things that humor in other comic book-based films (and many more mainstream films, for that matter) do to excess: 1-it did not demand attention like a little seven year old jumping up and down yelling, "OOH listen to me!  Listen to me!" , and 2-it did not break the tension, [melo]drama, or action to the point where it had to get a jump-start to be up to speed again.

It was, actually, remarkable - even for Whedon - to do that so many times, in a film of this scale, and do it so smoothly that it was only in hindsight one could realize just how friggin' funny the film was!

I realize that I'd said in the previous comments that all the actions of the characters rang true... I forgot to single out for mention a specific part of their actions: their spoken words.  [spoilered for, well, film plot spoilers here]  The 'voice' of each character was dead on, throughout... I cannot recall a word spoken that was out of character for any of the multiple characters that appeared.  [Many of Stark's lines fit both the comments in this post: both hilarious and dead-on character-accurate.  ;D ]

I second wurwolf's belief in the 'cinematic greatness' that is upon us, and I hope that studios hiring those who actually LIKE comics [and preferably, who - like Joss - have also written some] to write and direct movies about comic characters is a sign of things to come.

[EDIT] Quick addition here: With the incredible success of this film, I suspect that Whedon just moved into the 'studios will be unlikely to question his decisions' for future projects, just like Spielberg after E.T., and Cameron after Titanic.  Now maybe we'll have a chance at getting what WHEDON wants to do for us... ...maybe even on TV.  :)

Henry88, thanks for posting that, but please put it in a spoiler as it gives away a MAJOR plot event.

EDIT: Thanks!  Those not having seen the film yet will appreciate that greatly.

Yeah, that was one of the major laughs for me too. I also particularly love just how short it takes for Hulk to do that.

LucasM

What is really amazing, is that not only is it one of the biggest laughs in the film, and that it happened so quickly, but it was also a very major plot point, yet - with the way the film was written - we [at least I] didn't feel cheated by that particular threat ending that way!

A slight quibble but did anyone else find it odd that Iron-Man could hang with Thor in a fight and Cap seemed pretty outclassed against everyone?

I had no problem with Cap being outclassed by everyone. I like Captain America, and they used him well. But he is the peak of HUMAN ability.

I did think that Iron Man shouldn't have been as close to Thor in strength. The shot where Thor is barely able to crimp Iron Man's armor with his grip was a bit weak for him, I thought.
