And Prometheus isn't getting that high. Not a chance. This isn't a crack towards its quality or anything, this is just the fact that that's not the kind of movie that breaks box office records.

It is also rated R. Passion of the Christ holds the record for highest grossing R rated film at 370 mil.
Now if Prometheus could knock that movie off the top R spot, THAT would be great.

Ridley Scott is an insufferably arrogant asshole, but yes, I'd like to see this too.
Not nearly as much as the people who encouraged their followers to see a torture porn flick, yet would protest the same kind of movie if it were about anyone else.

Did I miss something? Maybe I glossed over it because it contained the moronic, meaningless, media-created buzzword "torture porn."

EDIT: Oh. Passion of The Christ. I'm a geeeeenius. My point about that stupid phrase "torture porn" still stands.
I only used that term because it was coined by the same kind of people who loved Passion of the Christ to dismiss other movies. I personally prefer the 70s and 80s term "goresploitation".

Yeah but that rather denotes when it's done for comic effect, I mean I do find Saw laughable but the main intent isn't comedy like it is in those clips really.

Do you know what's better?  Splatstick.

Splatstick is a good term, but only applies in comedies.

You might want to spoiler that second clip there.  Squeamish folks might not appreciate it.

Still, I was hoping someone might bring it up. Ton of fun there.

And I think it can apply in more straight horror movies, when things just get so absurdly gory that you've got to laugh (the beach attack scene in Piranha 3D, for instance).

I didn't mean to imply it's a synonym.  I just like the term.

That's a proxy like from Ann, though I don't think it's her eyes that are watering.

I should be able to like this more than once!

I figured you'd be too busy masturbating to torture porn.

You are not very good at flirting
