The problem with the prequels, or at least Episode I, as I see it, is that there was so much expectation built up for it for so long that there's no way Lucas could have fulfilled everyone's expectations.  If there had been less time for people to build up those expectations, it would have been much easier to satisfy them.
A lot of people have tried to play that card DaltySmith, but for one thing history has shown us that even in the cases of built up expectations, a movie was considered an artistic failure anyway... example: Star Trek the Motion picture, perhaps even the Lost in Space movie... did Lost in Space ever have any hardcore fans though?
I don't think long-time fans of Lost in Space were foaming at the mouth for that one, and I've talked to a number of people who find Star Trek: The Motion Picture to be awesome.

I think the problem some of us have with your statements RE: Star Wars prequels is that you seem to believe that it's possible to label them (And a couple other movies) as objectively bad. They're not. No movie is. Any statement that a movie is bad is subjective. There are people out there who disagree and find them to be highly enjoyable. Those are valid opinions. You can say you think they're awfiul movies, and you have a right to that opinion and you'll find no shortage of people here that agree with you, but to call that a fact and state that anyone who enjoyed them are wrong about their opinions is a bit insulting to those of us who have come to other conclusions.

We all have movies that baffle us a little. When I heard about the concept of "Air Bud", I thought, "Well that's the worst idea for a movie ever and there can't be any way that would ever be  a successful thing," but 15 years and 11 Spin-Offs/Sequels later, I have to shrug my shoulders and say, "Well I guess someone out there must be watching them..."

It takes all kinds of people, and that includes people who enjoy Star Wars prequels and/or sports-playing dogs. :^)

Consider, for contrast, Ang Lee's Hulk movie.  Fans of the comic all agree that it was the worst abomination ever committed by a human, and that Ang Lee is worse than Hitler for making it.  I, on the other hand, thought it was pretty good, and I bet a lot of others who haven't read the comics would agree.

No, man. You lost everybody there. I don't like comics, but HULK is an appalling sack of garbage. It is just awful. AWFUL.

It's not.  Apart from the ending and genuine lack of decent action scenes, it's pretty good.

Or the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy movie.  With a few exceptions, whether or not you liked the movie seemed to correspond with whether you were a fan of the story in some other medium.  People who were fans of the books, TV show, Radio Show, computer game, or towel all seemed to hate it.  Those who hadn't seen or heard the story in some other medium seemed to like it.  I was one of the rare fans of the books who liked the movie, but mainly because I knew and expected going in that it was going to be different from the books.

I'm a huge Douglas Adams fan, and also like the movie.  I think if you liked the previous 3 or 4 (Radio, Book, TV, LP) different sometimes conflicting versions of the story then you should also like the movie.  It could have been much better but that doesn't make it bad.  Knowing he wasn't around while it was made lowered my expectations so I guess that plays a part as well.

Too many people equate disappointment with badness, it's OK to like a movie that could have been better.  I personally can't say that for the prequels, the bad acting gets on my nerves every time I see it, so while that could have been better there's nothing to like about what is there.  Neeson and McGregor occasionally do some passable acting but the rest are just awful, wooden, and unbelievable.

-.- I was being tongue-in-cheek. I do despise the movie and see no redeeming qualities in it whatsoever, and I can't see your point of view about it, but I'm not so stupid as to think that's not just my opinion. My main point was that it's not just fans of the comics that hate it. I hate it passionately as a stand-alone work of fiction.

Translation: Don't let some stranger from the internet convince you to watch it over a dozen times, pausing every few moments throughout an over two hour film.  ;)

Exactly. Although it still wasn't as painful as Van Helsing.

i wonder what the bad/painful movie correlation is. because a bad movie is not necessarily painful.

People have done that to me ALL the damn time. Take for example the Transformers movies. I admit I like the first and third ones, however, many will say that they are objectively awful and I cannot really argue with their hatred of the films. Nonetheless I have to ADMIT that they are probably right regardless because their opinion is closer to the objective end of the "objective-subjective" spectrum. If I can be fair from the other side of the fence, certainly you must see why I don't see myself as being totally wrong.

I am doing re-authors of all the Star Wars using 720p Blu-ray rips. I haven't seen any of the blus before I just got to this:

It makes me laugh so much. Just listen to the nuances of it.

Unless something was added to extend the run time, is there a reason why audio editing of the riff would be necessary?

If there were any changes to the timeline, it would affect the sync, right?

Of course, Is there a reason the run time might have changed for the Blu-ray version?
