Oh by the way I heard a rumor that the pod race scene was extended by four hours.
How would you be able to tell?

I might see it, since my buddy works at the theater and I can get in for free, and there are enough scenes I like in TPM to be curious about the 3D conversion.

I think the lightsaber fights and the pod race would look decent in 3D,but so far I have not seen any after the fact 3D that looks good to me and it doesn't change the fact that Jar Jar will be in 3D.
Fave Rifftrax:The Room Fave MST3K:Manos
Fave DW story of last year:TAP/TRF.  Fave classic series story:Inferno
Fave film of 2011:Tie The Muppets/Tintin
Fave iRiff group:One wall cinema
Fave movie:Citizen Kane.
Still stuck on dial up.
Ignore me or report me.

There are only a handful of scenes I can imagine looking GREAT in 3D in the entire Star Wars saga, the Death Star run, the Asteroid chase, the Bespin battle between Luke and Vader, And the battle over Endor in Return of the Jedi and... that's it. Little else has enough emotional significance to matter when it's in 3D.

Is the 3-D version the same as the DVDs? Because I am going to bring my iPod and rifftrax along

Heh!! But seriously, WHO is going to see TPM in 3D?

Me.

Yes, seriously. No, I'm not going to be listening to the Rifftrax. No, I don't think its a great film. As a matter of fact, it's a film that triggers in me strong associations with the Columbine shooting and me developing pneumonia. But I'm still going to see it again in the theater.

I'm expecting a $30 million opening weekend, BTW.

Just like when the prequels were first released.  The fanboys will flock to it and complain about how bad a movie is the entire time.

Meh, I kinda doubt it, especially since it's not a summer release and imo people are sick of paying 10+ bucks for a 3D ticket.

I would guess it might be the same as the Blu Ray.

My five year son is not a particularly huge SW fan, he's watched some of the Clone Wars here and there but never really got attached to it... About his only real tie to the franchise is playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii... But he has reminded me that I am taking him to see TPM:3D pretty much every time he catches one of the TV commercials... so I guess Lucas gets a few more of my ducats. I was strongly considering the iPod / Rifftrax combo in the theater... but then it would become "what are you listening to Dad?, why do you keep pausing that for a split second Dad?, can I listen Dad? Why are you laughing Dad?" ... yea, you get the picture... no rifftrax for me.
