Some really good lines in the sample. That bodes well.

I couldn't believe they made a Lovecraft (Cthulhu) reference. I also couldn't believe when MST3K referenced Cthulhu in "Village of the Giants". Any other Rifftrax/MST3K Lovecraft references?

There was one in the intro to the Christmas Live Show.

Would it be safe to guess that Kevin's responsible for the Cthulhu references? (I ended up guessing correctly about Kevin + prog rock.)

Always Cthulhu... will they ever get around to Nyarlathotep & Yog-Sothoth? There's other gods too, you know.   >:D

Btw, Thrashalla, your avatar is frightening if envisioned in cyclopean proportions. Looks like it's about to reach down & toss some humans into its mouth.

I could have sworn there was at least one reference to 'ol Yog, but I can't place it.

Don't panic. It's mostly harmless.

Nah, it's still nowhere nearly as scary as "Nurse Satan" in the 2009 Star Trek.

I'm starting to suspect you don't know where your towel is.

QuoteWhat's all this bullshit about Towels?
We're just about to get to that part. It involves Douglas Adams' characters fleeing from the earth, and finding out the many uses of towels and their applications in space-travel survival. The towel became a symbol of his humor among geeks. One of the first things we learn is that anyone who doesn't have his head up his ass, and is ready for adventure, (and is a generally cool motherfucker) is someone who "Knows Where His Towel Is". If you don't know where your towel is, you won't be prepared to fend off trouble OR have a good time. http://www.cracked.com/funny-1315-douglas-adams/

Hey!

Well, back to Cthulhu...

Hey look, another one this Friday!

Wikipedia tells me this is the movie that MST3K's Pod People ripped footage from for its opening/closing titles. Interesting.
Also that Alien Factor, riffed by Cinematic Titanic, is from the same director.

Sometimes riffing's a small world.

Dude before I read your post fully I just clicked on the link. Then looked it up on Google. Saw it is on Youtube and jumped around. The second I saw the creature I remembered it being from Pod People! Came back to post that and read your post and saw you found that out already. This is one from 1985. Looks like it will be a good one.

Well, this riff proves I'm not the only one who (unwillingly) remembers that stupid Pace Picante commercial. "This stuff's made in New York City!" "NEW YORK CITY?!!!!"

Between this and Mike's X3 'Black Dog' reference, my selective memory seems to place me as a child of the 90's. The decade of Pace Picante & Black Dog. :(
