The sequels have suffered without the magnetic screen presence of Sean William Scott

Darth Geek

Sean William Scott, how the %$#@* does he work?!

I saw this movie on Friday and it was..... um... about the same as the others.  Each movie seems to add some different rule about Death to give the illusion that the characters have any chance of living through this.  The theme is always that people will die in their freak accidents in the same order that they died in the premonition.  I think in 1, 3, and 4 they decided that they could win by preventing the freak accident and cause Death to kill people out of order.  But that never worked out.  In 2 it was decided that a new life, which wouldn't have existed had the accident happened, would force Death to start over and spare everyone.  In 5 they introduce the idea that if a survivor kills somebody else, that person takes his place and the survivor gets to take the new victim's life.  Which is kind of a neat concept and at least differentiates the movie from the others in SOME way.

There's a fun twist at the end, .

My favorite part, that only denizens of this forum can appreciate, was that the insufferable douchebag character from this movie was a guy named Isaac.

I saw it. Pretty good. Not sure it was worth 11 bucks to see it in 3D. It's exactly what you'd expect. I thought a couple of the deaths were pretty creative and funny.

It's the same shit all over again. Guy has premonition for no reason. People die in gruesome and
impossible ways, Oh, and I hate to spoil it but... , just like in all the other goddamn
Banal Destination movies! Smurfs was more of a horror movie, because at least you felt horrified
for the audience who paid for tickets to see that shit. Just to clarify, I'm not a fan of horror movies at
all, however, I know that it isn't a horror movie if 1) you don't care about the characters, and 2) they
die in ridiculously impossible ways.

I think these flicks are a lot of fun. Sure, it's ridiculous, but that's kind of the point: coming up with crazy, over-the-top deaths.
VIVA IL ESORDIO DEL DIABETE ADULTO DUCE!!!

...For the record, I don't think watching someone(even if they are an asshole) get their
flesh melted off by hot tar is entertaining.

To be fair, even if you like him, a lot of people like seeing bad things happen to David Koechner.  This includes David Koechner. ;)

What, pseudo-Tom Cruise didn't help at all?  (And I did mention in my actual movie review for this that the guy did play Tom Cruise in Superhero Movie, so the comparison is quite apt.)

You know it's an inept horror movie when you find yourself laughing at every death.

Boy, I can't wait to see more unlikeable characters die from a series of Rube Goldberg like events that have a 0.0000000000000001% chance of ever happening in reality!

But what does the Saw franchise have to do with this movie?

Kinda the same thing going on.  I am sure there will be a "Saw vs The Final Destination" movie in our future where death tries to kill the saw master.

Weirdest slash fiction ever.

Really?  I'd imagine that's about 50% of the target audience, it's like Mousetrap of dooooooom!

i guess this will be the last entry in the series since it didn't make much money.
I mean a movie can obviously get the shit beat out of it critically speaking and
still have gobs of sequels(A la Saw, or Final Destination) and it will still make
sequels, as long as they make money.

I stopped watching the Saw films after II, but from what I understand, didn't Jigsaw manage to survive countless attempts to murder him?  He's already beaten everyone in the Final Destination series if that's true, and he doesn't even have superpowers.

This one cost $40 million and made $18 million opening weekend, and has made $23 million according to Box Office Mojo as of August 18th.  It may not be the runaway hit of late summer, but it might very well make its money back, especially considering it hasn't opened in the foreign market yet.  This summer's been sort of weird, though...I barely saw any previews for Horrible Bosses (which I liked) or Bridesmaids (which I didn't see), and both of those movies went nuts at the box office.  Bridesmaids has made almost $300 million in worldwide gross...Captain America has only done slightly better than that, and that's an action blockbuster with 3D ticket sales to account for and cost over four times as much to make.  Not that I necessarily want to SEE another one, but until it drops out of the top ten, I wouldn't count it out a sixth one just yet.

And as stupid as it was, I still thought "The Final Destination" was the funniest one of the series.  Any movie where I guy falls backward on a piece of sharp wood the same way a sitcom character falls backward into a wedding cake still makes me laugh.  That, and anybody who comes up with "death by severe colon cleansing" is at least thinking outside the box, if not outside the gutter.  But yes, these are not movies for people who don't like horror films...and in some cases, not even those.
