A message concerning celebrity guests.

Don't get me wrong. I am not completely against celebrity riffers. I am against celebrities being riffers just because they're celebrities. I don't want MST3K 2.0, I only suggest Joel, Trace, and Frank because they're the best of the best. I ask that the RiffTrax community not get caught up in guests and hype to the point that we forget that these are here to be hilarious, not a publicity stunt for Mike.

Pak-Man

Wouldn't worry too much. I think it's gonna be a while before the high-profile guests start to recognize Rifftrax as something worth trying out, and Lowtax has proven that as long as Mike's around, the funny will continue no matter who's in the co-pilot seat. :^)

Thom_Serveaux

Yeah, I agree with the others in this I trust Mike's comedic sense in these matters.  He's more interested in putting out a quality product, than risking a hasty decision...

its not mst3k 2.0  hehe weve throw that ol chestnut out have we ;)

It's in the FAQ... and yet the discussion continues, especially on the MST3K LiveJournal community. There is also a RiffTrax community but it's not quite as active, oddly enough.

There's a mst3k livejournal community? Schweet. Another community I can add to forget exists and never check, whose only purpose is to make my friend's list unnavigable!

I should have figured, there's an LJ community for everything.

There's also a rifftrax community. Do check it out  8)

AmandaGal

I will! I'm checking out the mst3k one now.  They may be a little bit too hardcore for me but I'll add them and keep an eye anyway.  I had the same problem with alt.fan.mst3k.  After about a few days of reading that, I started to hate mst3k, every fan of the show and all it stood for so I told myself to back away from the usenet.

The rifftrax one seems less so :-)

That would be "In My Opinion". :^)

hehe, I hate that abbreviation too, I just spell out in my (humble) opinion... really the only two net-words I can stand are lol and wtf as they actually serve a purpose (not swearing, and expressing laughter)

And LOL can be used in excess too. With some people, unless they are literally cackling madly with everything they say, I don't think they're really LOLing. :^)

Agreed.  I rarely use that abbreviation, but when I do, it's because I've laughed out loud.  Never used ROFLMAO though.  I don't see how anyone could type from the floor, rolling around.   ;)

AmandaGal

see i use it all the freaken time, but thats usually cause i think something is mildly funny.  its more like a sneer than a full blown laugh to me.  Come to think of it ill bet 3/4 of my posts have at least one lol in it.

Congats, you've just created a new internet shorthand abbreviation.  By combining 'Rolling On (the) Floor Laughing' (ROFL) with 'Laughing(Laughed) My Ass Off' (LMAO), You've created 'Rolling On (the) Floor Laughing My Ass Off' (ROFLMAO) Well done!

I wish I could claim the credit, but I've heard it many, many times before.   :)
