Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

Can I ask if anyone's heard of this film?

QuoteAlready a worldwide phenomenon with huge media coverage, COLIN is the first zombie movie told from the zombie s perspective, it is a film truly like no other. Our hero Colin is bitten by a zombie; he dies and returns as one of the undead. We follow him as he wanders through suburbia during the throes of a cadaverous apocalypse. Through his encounters, we learn who Colin was and more pertinently, what he has now become. Including a broad daylight zombie versus human street battle, an epic housebound siege and bags of gore. Made for only $70, this is a zombie phenomenon that must not be missed!

I think the highlighted bit is a typo but.... :D

Anyway, has anyone seen this? Is it worth a look?

mrbasehart

Not seen it. Only heard of it because of its ridiculously low budget.

Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

Okay...another inquiry....anyone seen this yet?

QuoteJapanese adult video superstars Sora Aoi and Risa Kasumi in a story of five bored strippers who unwittingly unleash the army of the undead, and then have to save the world with their kick- ass fighting skills.

Opinions?

Day Of The Dead 2: Contagium

Yeah. Having rewatched the 2007 version of "Day" a few days ago and not being impressed, I will note that it's still markedly better than Contagium.

[REC]

Wow... the last ten minutes of this film may have been the scariest thing i've seen in the last ten years!

[Rec] is another one of those nauseating shaky-cam movies from Spain. But despite the cliché faux-documentary camerawork, it's surprisingly effective at creating a frantic and horrifyingly claustrophobic experience.

Presented as the unedited footage of a TV news crew, [REC] tells the story of a small group of people who are forcibly quarantined inside an apartment building. Chaos ensues as the captives quickly fall victim... first to a mysterious virus, then to each other. Eventually the final survivors discover the terrifying truth behind the outbreak. I hold [Rec] and Quarantine to be about the same, quality-wise, which is a good thing. Definitely a creepy film.

While I haven't seen it, I would probably approach it with the attitude of "let's see how bad this is." I'm guessing that it will be roughly the same quality of Attack Girl's Swim Team vs. The Undead, which wasn't exactly of the best quality.

It'll probably be better than Zombie Strippers was though.

Dead Air

Genre vet Bill Moseley plays a radio DJ who is trapped only blocks away from the site of a terrorist attack. Unfortunately this attack is only part of a larger plan to unleashed a horrible virus on the entire country that will result in a wave of violent, infected zombies.

I actually came across this movie because of another pseudo-zombie film centered around a radio DJ called Ponytpool. While both deal with an infection, Dead Air is a much more straightforward film. Although i have to admit that i'm surprised to see the release of the virus portrayed as a terrorist attack.

At times it might simply come off as a clumsy attempt to make the film more current or relevant. But when dealing with a weaponized virus, the usual zombie movie cliché is to place the blame on an evil corporation or shadowy military organization. And while Dead Air actually veers toward that direction at one point, the plot is generally a fresh take on both the zombie and disaster genres. Continue Reading...

Ah, so you did see it too. I was fairly disappointed with Dead Air; it looked and felt really cheap, had a lot of muddled politics it tried to get deep on, and generally didn't have a lot going for it. I wouldn't really call it bad, just average. It's biggest asset was Bill Mosely, who gave a fantastic performance (it helps that his voice is dead-on right for that kind of radio show) and really pulled a lot of dead weight off of the other, less-than-stellar guys. I also liked the scene where the guy comes across an outbreak in a bus, that worked well. Other than that, not a film I'm in any hurry to go back to.

It would almost have to be.

Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island

Aw, shucks... looks like the old gang decided to go their separate ways. Apparently Daphne got sick of capturing old men in masks; Velma runs a book store and Scooby is a drug-sniffing dog at the airport.

It doesn't take too long before Fred gets everyone together again for one last adventure to Moonscar Island. But this time the monsters are real... Zoinks!

This movie has a little bit of everything; cat gods, voodoo dolls, scary alligators, ghost pirates, civil war zombies and werewolves. And while it's not classic Scooby-Doo, it's still a lot of fun! Continue Reading...

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island kicks ass, it's one of the best Scooby related things out there. Love the music too (and I can't for the life of me track the songs down anywhere).

La Horde

The Horde is a French zombie movie that's heavy on the gore and violence, but light on plot and logic. The film takes place almost entirely in an abandoned tenement building where some sort of convoluted, unauthorized police raid goes wrong as Paris is overrun by zombies.

While most survivors of a zombie apocalypse would attempt to take shelter somewhere safe, the characters in this film are actually trying to escape to the outside world... although i'm not really sure why. The building is unstable and there's some talk of running to a military base or something. But it's obvious that there are thousands of zombies waiting right outside of the building!

Ya' know, when bombs are lighting up the sky and the entire city has become a warzone... i think waiting it out in a building would be the best course of action. But instead the police and criminals join together as they make their desperate escape. Continue Reading...

My brother is a big Scooby-Doo fan, so I've seen a lot of Scooby stuff. I think Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island may be my favorite Scooby Doo project. The follow up films weren't too bad either. The Witch's Ghost was pretty good. Alien Invaders and Cyber Chase were ok. Then it seemed like they started gearing everything back towards the really little kids again. I was surprised at how entertained I was by the new series Mystery Incorporated when I stumbled upon it recently.

28 Weeks Later

For some reason i've always been under the impression that 28 Weeks Later just wasn't a very good movie. Maybe it's simply because it was a sequel, or because Danny Boyle didn't return as director... i don't know. But i was pleasantly surprised by how much i actually enjoyed it.

The plot picks up... well, 28 weeks after the Rage Virus first broke out all across London. American troops have helped quell the madness, and life is slowly returning to normal in a small quarantined area known as District One.

Of course all hell breaks loose eventually. But get this... it's not because any zombies actually managed to breach the security. Instead, it's due to a woman who is immune to the virus. Too bad her husband isn't. Continue Reading...
