So what would have been a more amusing name than "unobtainium"?

Given that naming a fictional ore "unobtainium" is about one of the least creative ways to be "clever", I figured there would be an opportunity to just make even stupider names that could at least be honest about how stupid they were.  I thought I'd open the floor to suggestions.

This is, of course, an extension to a discussion in the "What have we learned?" thread.

Am I gonna be "that guy" to point this out?  You betcha!

Quote"Unobtainium" is a humorous term used mainly in the aerospace industry. It describes a material that is perfect for an application, but does not exist, is extremely expensive, or violates the laws of physics. Its chemical symbol is Uo. "Unobtainium" is also a general concept term used by sci-fi enthusiasts for any fictional substance that is needed to build a certain device that is crucial to the plot of a sci-fi story. "Unobtainium" is featured in the movie The Core (2003), where the earth-boring vessel called the "Virgil" has a hull made from unobtainium to help it withstand the massive pressures inside the Earth's core. "Unobtainium" is also an anti-gravity element in the online multi-player video game "Skyrates."

While I won't call Cameron for being "uncreative" with the name (ironically, it's actually closer to reality), I'll still play along:

Elusivium

MartyS (Gromit)

I already said plotdivicium in the other thread, but that's too much like what they were saying in the rifftrax, so:

Oh wait, that's a real thing.
So is unobtainium.   :rimshot:

Ok... I think I'm approaching near-troll levels lately.  Think I'm gonna take a break now.

I'm going to change the question and then answer it...

Iridium.

Extremely rare (on earth) and would be valuable for the same reason Gold and Platinum are valuable, really dense and really corrosion resistant. Needed for...some...space travel reason.

Wait...sorry for trying to ruin the plot with logic.

Um, The Spice Melangedrogen.

Lemming Howard

Upsidaisium.  I hope that wasn't copyrighted by the owners of the Rocky and Bullwinkle show.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

Having riffed The Core not too long ago, I was appalled by Cameron's blatant thievery of Dr. Brazzleton's discovery. You KNOW how the doc hates people jacking his ideas.

I wanted to do one with Melange but that was taken.

And yeah, while not a real mineral, Unobtanium is a real engineering term. Sortof.
