What a fun, quirky, amazing career he had.

Lucky guy.

He might almost get me to watch Fringe, just to see his last acting hurrah...

Well, Shatner's cameo as Spock is going to be worth seeing at least.

That is ... ill...ogical, captain.

:P I'd rather see the bloated corpse of James Doohan make a cameo than Shatner.

I'm sure Spiner swore he was done with Trek after they offed Data....but he made at least two appearances in episodes of "Enterprise".

I imagine if the check is big enough...

Well, he never officially retired before, but it certainly felt like he had for the last 12 years (aside from his Futurama appearances...)

When did Nimoy "retire" the first time?

Can't remember how many years ago it was but Nimoy did make an announcement that he was "giving up" acting to focus on his photography.

And there was a previous IMDB story that said this:

When "Star Trek" was poised to enter production in 2008, the entire project hinged on coaxing Leonard Nimoy -- the man who played Spock for 40 years -- out of retirement. Director J.J. Abrams and his writing team visited the legendary actor's home to deliver a personal pitch, one that apparently left the actor in quiet contemplation before he finally decided to come out of retirement for the project. Since then, Nimoy has already made it known that he will not come out of retirement again, and that his Spock days are over. Unfortunately for Nimoy, his successor has other plans. Zachary Quinto, the popular "Heroes" villain and 2009 edition of Mr. Spock, has said that he hopes Nimoy will be back to reprise the role of the aged ambassador from another timeline in a sequel movie. ยป

I have a suspicion Shatner will be coming back in either the first or second sequel - but it won't be as "Kirk Prime".

What the hell am I talking about, you ask? I'll give you a clue. The answer is right in the mirror.
