Small change of plans, folks.  It's incredibly likely that due to work commitments, I will have to watch How to Train Your Dragon on Friday night.  Now, I know I'm a crazy person and would love to fit in the 10 movies I've listed between now and then, I can't.  The easiest thing I can think of is to swap out a film on the list with How to Train Your Dragon.  Probably Troma's War (which can stay on my shelf for another 4 years).

Wait...Mr. Basehart, you WORK?! 10,000 movies and you have a job? I don't think Frank Conniff's seen that many movies, and that WAS his job!

I've always been under the impression that basehart either doesn't require sleep, and/or has a job that allows him to watch movies virtually the entire time he's at work. But anyway you slice it, the guy is a movie-watching machine!
VIVA IL ESORDIO DEL DIABETE ADULTO DUCE!!!

Relaxing Dragon

My running theory is he has a robotic duplicate to get through things like 'work' and 'sleep' for him, thus giving him more valuable movie watching time.

Okay, a little confession:  I've dropped the whole "countdown" thing.  A few days ago, when I made the list, I really didn't figure in the sort of weird pressure I put myself under to finish those specific movies and yesterday, when I had some time off of work, I found myself a) unable to watch the movies I'd set myself and b) unable to watch anything else because I'd set myself those specific movies.  I actually got depressed thinking about it!  (I ended up watching Phantom of the Opera with my mother and then going to bed listening to the Love Actually commentary)

Watching movies for me is all about the mood I'm in right at that moment, and because I usually have a large selection to choose from (currently, I have about 400 movies on tap that I haven't seen, not to mention anything I could stream or download for free) it's easy for me to pick something out that I want to see, rather than feel obligated to do so.  The film challenge is a little different, in that it feels more...inclusive? I dunno, but I feel like I get something back from you guys when I watch a specific movie that has been suggested by you.  This feels like an unnecessary burden, so I watched some Bugs and Daffy cartoons, and my 9999th film is this:

Directed by Fred Olen Ray and Jim Wynorski!

I wonder if they paid to use that image. Or if it's actually from the film, I wonder if they were sued because they ripped off an illustration (the artist of which I'm drawing a blank on) wholesale.   ;)

That looks like a Boris Vallejo.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

It is Vallejo (I found out when I looked it up).  I can't imagine they paid for the image or that Vallejo agreed to let them use it.

Another bonus: It stars MST3k legend, Ross Hagen!

Tromas war would be a interesting pick for 10000th movie.  its best if you have watched lost and can see how either subliminally or on purpose(seems shocking) lost took major elements of it.

I thought that was who it was but last night I had doubts about it. I don't who else it could have been though.

Frank Frazetta, perhaps, though I think he mainly does dudes.

By the way, I did it:

Any regrets? All those ones rated 1 or 2 maybe (MTS3Ks excluded)?
