So you wouldn't be 'Team Jacob' in his wolf form, eh?   ;D

Maybe not romantically speaking, but I would love to play fetch with him.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

If this is what so many women think is 'true love', then their home lives and childhoods were seriously unhealthy, both in how they saw their parents treat each-other, and in how they were treated.

In my experience, it is how many women view love. A friend of mine and myself have pretty much been shoved into the "sensitive FRIEND I can talk to and a shoulder I can cry on" niche while we watch all of them latch onto whatever prick that happens to tell them exactly what they want to hear before using and abusing them, and then we have to spend hours trying to get them to realize that they made a terrible mistake and are much better than that and deserve much better, yet they refuse to fucking listen, instead wanting to get nothing more than empty compliments to rebuild their self esteem, and go and find the exact same prick with just a different name.

I am very seriously beginning to hate the phrase "I want someone like you, but not you" and if I have to hear it one more time I'm seriously considering ending the friendship and leaving them to their fate. Not because I'm pissed they don't reciprocate the feelings, but because they refuse to even bother to try fix themselves (and you can't force someone to do so, you just can't) and just reenter that cycle over and over again and I can do nothing but watch as they get hurt over and over again and go back for more and there's nothing you can do about it.

Yes, I am very bitter as this just happened to be again very recently, and all I can do is watch as she attempts to form a relationship with that exact type of person.

I feel better now.

And there are those of  us women who watch you guys do the same things while we're stuck in "The Friend Zone".

It fucking sucks, regardless of which side you are on. Suffice to say, I'm the kind of idiot who did exactly what I'm railing against (spent four years desperately trying to get an old girlfriend back and believed her when she said she wasn't the temper tantrum throwing bitch who made me feel like shit that she used to be, only to marry her and find out oh snap! she still is), and that's probably why I have such a negative backlash to it.

That's not to say I don't mind being stuck in the friend zone and I enjoy trying to help people I care about, but watching them continue with the same destructive behavior over and over no matter what, well... it begins to wear you down to the point where you just stop caring. You know, I'm going to stop talking now. I could go on (and myself and my friend have gone on) for hours on this subject.

Oy. Yet another reason for me to hate these movies.... unless Wiseau directs the last one.

Precisely.  If someone was treated like shit by their parents, they're going to think they are 'shit'.  They'll grow up and find people who will treat them the same way as those who raised them did, because that's all they know (and often because that was all they got from their parents, they think that is 'love', like Bella and Ed).  Until these people are willing to realistically face what their parents did to them, they won't get past this.

So, sad to say, unless you like being in the 'friend' role watching people self-destruct, you can try to get others to realize what they are doing, but if it doesn't work in short order, move on, or those 'third party' relationships will take your emotional state down with it.  The average age for people to start dealing with childhood stuff is in the mid-30s or so (a couple decades back, before it was understood as well, and before anyone figured out how to treat it respectfully, the age was in the 40s or even 50s).  There has to be 'enough' distance from the perpetrators (parents) to allow the person to feel safe enough even looking at it.

Another difficulty coming with both males and females growing up in certain kinds of environments (usually with a parent breaking appropriate boundaries and confiding in a child and depending upon it for emotional support) is that those children then become helpers and support systems for people who are 'damaged'.  These people, too, need to work on what they grew up with so that they can choose their partners, rather than go to 'the next needy person' trying to help them instead of forming mutually responsive relationships.  Sadly this toxic 'fixing/saving others' persona is also highlighted and glorified in movies as a good or admirable/rewarding thing ('Pretty Woman' anyone?)

Whoa.

I just learned that Plastic Duck is a babe and not a dude as I've been assuming all this time.

Actually... how would people feel if John Carpenter directed the final one?   ;D

In the 80s, I'd say yes. Now, not sure. Although it would make Bella's dreams a heck of a lot more interesting.

I always thought it would be hilarious for Freddy to come across some Valley Girl type bimbo too dumb to be afraid of him.

"It's party time, BITCH!"
"Oh, mygod! You are, like totally burned. Relax with the exfolient, kay. A boiler room? What a crummy place for a party. Seriously."
*Freddy waves his gloved hand around on the walls, making sparks*
"I've seen those. Ohmygod, you shop at Hot Topic? How emo."

Can Rob Zombie remake it 20 years later?

I am desperately hoping that Rob Zombie doesn't live that long.

Yeah... I was thinking more "Ghosts of Mars"-era Carpenter (with Buckethead doing the music on the soundtrack during the birth sequence  ;D ).  Haven't really paid attention to his work since that film, actually [that's Carpenter I don't follow... I still follow Buckethead].
