Cool. So does this mean there will be three Captain America movies? 'Cause apparently Weaving only does trilogies now.

The Wolf Man is going to be a trilogy?   :D

Yeah. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was part 1 and V For Vendetta was part 2. Duh.

Duh...if you'd seen The Wolf Man you'd know that it has to be part two at most.   ;)
I would love to see a sequel to The Wolfman starring Weaving.

Same here.  Of course, I'd watch Telephone Book:  The Motion Picture if it starred Hugo Weaving.

I'm really happy about the news, I've been waiting for Chris Evans to get a star vehicle since I first saw him in Cellular.

I like Chris Evans, although he doesn't quite seem right to me for Steve Rogers. But I've been wracking my brain trying to think of any actor I'm aware of right now who could pull it off, and have come up with zilch. Where do you find a young, hunky American actor who can pull off playing a guy who grew up during the depression, not to mention hold his own on screen next to Robert Downey Jr?

I won't be convinced that any actor has officially been cast until I see him in the first trailer. Shouldn't this movie have started shooting by now if they want it done for July 2011? As a big Cap fanboy, I'm dreading this movie.

Same here.  It's mostly the Joe Johnston thing that bothers me the most.

Sorry I'm late to the game here.  How's this?

(No, I didn't make that.  That's the whole comic.)

More people should be worried about that.  Directing The Rocketeer qualifies you for making an excellent Captain America.... 20 years ago.  When you're last movies have been Jurassic Park 3 and the universally panned Wolf Man (a movie even he admits he screwed up on), it's surprising he even got the gig.  Is this the director they want helming the Marvel Superman!?  I'm just going to hold on to the hope that they recast Cap with Alex Ross' decision, Jon Hamm, for The Avengers movie (even tho I know that won't happen).

ScottotD

I wish people would stop going on about Jon Hamm, was he even interested?

I really don't mind Chris Evans, either.  Yes, he was an annoying douche in Fantastic Four, but guess what?  THE HUMAN TORCH IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ANNOYING DOUCHE

  People keep forgetting that. Evans was spot-on for Johnny Storm. (Whether it's because he really is a douche, I dunno.)

I like him, but he's one of the many actors who would have been a great choice for Cap ten to fifteen years ago. (Brad Pitt, Aaron Eckhart, Mark Valley, etc...) Like most American GIs in WWII, Steve Rogers should be in his early 20s. (Which makes finding someone to play him a hell of a lot tougher, unfortunately.)

The Wolf Man wasn't "universally panned" (and the bad reviews I read all start out "didn't live up to...." like it's the movie's fault that the reviewer may have expected way too much).  And where does Johnston say in that story that he "screwed up"?

Also love how people forget to mention two other good films he directed - Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Jumanji
