Here is my thing so far both of the villains we have had in these movies can not stand up to Batman in a fight,if they go at him in hand to hand they lose.  I think it would be cool to now have Bane because then we could see a some really good fights with a villain that can stand up to Batman.

Also I don't see why you can't do Robin.  Just because he was done badly last time is no reason why he can't be done right this time.
Ras Al Gul (sp?) fought him pretty well at the end of Batman Begins.

Robin doesn't make sense in the super dark gritty films Nolan has made. Unless Nolan really wanted to do him, I would say leave him out. We don't want Robin short shrifted like Venom was, do we?

Yeah I guess you are right.  I'm just sick of only having a poorly done Robin in the Batman movies.

There are a few things you have to figure out how to overcome before trying to bring Robin in.

1.  Age.  Do you keep him young and make him the "boy wonder"?  If you do then it'll bring up tons of jokes about child abuse and even serious viewers will question why Batman would allow someone that age to endanger himself.  Do you make him older?  Late teens at the least?  Well, then the character might not be as sympathetic.  I think my favorite Robin was in the 90s animated series (the Dick Greyson version at least, not so much the younger Tim Drake late in the series), because they made him a college student.  It seemed natural that he would be a kind of part time crimefighter that way, and wouldn't be there for every adventure, just on weekends and breaks and that he'd be constantly training.  Not sure that impression could come across as well in a movie though.

2.  The costume.  In the dark gritty context of these movies you can believe there is a reason to wear black body armor and blend in with the night.  Why would anyone wear bright yellow and orange though?  It always makes me think of the Tiny Toon Adventures episode where Plucky was Batduck and Hampton was his sidekick Decoy and had a huge bright target on his costume.  So do you keep the costume colors for the purists, or do you darken the hell out of them?  Making the Robin costume darker might have been the single best decision made in the Schumaker movies.  Of course they screwed up on those costumes in other ways...

Oh and 3.  It would likely mean another time consuming origin story.  Best idea I can think of is to have hints at Robin in one movie, but don't debut him until a later sequel.  Maybe not as subtle as how Nolan kept Gordon's daughter's face hidden in Dark Knight because she could grow up to be Batgirl probably as a different actress, but maybe have the accident that kills Dick's family, perhaps even have Bruce adopt him at the end of the movie.  Then a lot of the origin is taken care of and getting him into the costume won't take long when they go for it next time.

Didn't Robin and the red, yellow and green costume come after Batman was no longer the vigilante and he was deputized by the Gotham police department?  Besides, I remember Robin being "backup" so he wasn't the one creeping up and surprising the bad guys.  At least that's how it worked in the Silver age the most time.

The Nolan movies are based on this new emo Batman where the second Robin ended up murdered by The Joker....

If they're going to introduce a Robin just to turn around and kill him off - I'll pass, too.

Every version of Batman that introduces Robin starts with Dick Greyson, who survives and usually turns into Nightwing when he's older.  The second robin, Jason Todd, was the one who died, and that was after Dick retired the costume in favor of another.  I doubt that'd happen anytime soon in the movies.

Personally, even knowing it was a publicity thing with the stupid call in voting, I liked the Death in the Family story.

Doctor Who?

I have the first year or so of  Batman and Detective Comics and when Robin first showed up Batman was not working with the police.  Batman didn't start working with the police until the mid to late 40s.

I would have robin be between 18 and 23 and I would give him a costume like he had in Batman forever or something close to Nightwing.  I think that would work.  Maybe just have him be like those guys who were in The Dark Knight dressed up in Batman suits only he is smart enough to figure out who Batman is.  if he is introduced that way his Origin can be told in a quick flashback and it will not take up half the movie.

Unfortunately, Christian Bale (he's the guy who plays Batman, probably best known for his astounding, earth-shattering, orgasm-inducing role in the greatest movie ever made [truly a gift from a benevolent creator] Equilibrium) has expressed contempt for the character of Robin, and has publicly stated he would not want to be involved in a Batman movie that featured Robin.

*cough* Drama Queen! *cough*

So, we probably won't be seeing Robin in the third film, even though I'd like to see what Nolan does with the character.

I for one would be happy to ditch Bale.  His Bruce Wayne comes off as a jerk and he has given batman the stupidest voice in the history of movies.  Really I watched The Dark Knight a few weeks ago and I could not hold in the laughter every time he talked.  I really think they need to either force him to change the voice or leave.  That voice is turning Batman into as big a joke as he was after the Adam West series and Batman and Robin.  Really I hate to say it because the rest of the movies have been so good but on rewatching that voice has come verry close to sinking both of the last two movies for me.  Does anyone else feel this way or am I just a freak?

Well, you are a freak...

I don't want to get rid of Bale, although I would like to see him phase out the voice, as now that the Batman is established in Gotham City, he doesn't have to try so hard to intimidate people, his legend proceeds him.
Bruce Wayne comes off as a jerk because he is just another character that Bruce plays. He plays up the whole Millionaire Playboy act when he's out in public because that is what people expect, and it makes them less likely to think he could be Batman.
Bale may be a Dram Queen, but he is taking the character seriously and has the acting chops to back it up. I could never take Adam West seriously (except when I was a really little kid), THAT was a joke. The current Batman is not a joke, although there are a few things that could be a little improved (the voice for one).

I don't think he's a joke to most people, also there was a whole sequence in 'Begins' explaining why he acts like a jerk as Bruce Wayne.

Tripe

Yeah "Bruce Wayne; rich, handsome, jerk" isn't exactly unique to Bale/Nolan's portrayal of the character.

I want Mr. Freeze, dammit!

Keep him realistic, though:  no freeze gun.  Maybe, like, he's a cryonics expert who has his wife secretly frozen, then loses his funding, so she dies.  He goes a little crazy and starts serial killing people by freezing them and trying to resuscitate them in an effort to do right by his dead wife.

So, pretty much Mr. Freeze, only instead of shooting people with an ice ray, he just dunks them in nitrogen, or something.

I have given too much thought to this.

Failing that, I'd like to see The Joker come back.  I agree that Heath Ledger did a great job with it, but come on, Joker's too good a character to just be dropped.

There are some times I think the voice works, and other times it doesn't.  When Batman is yelling in anger "Where were the drugs going" and "where are they" and so forth, it seems okay.  What doesn't work is when he has longer lines.  He shouldn't have had a conversation with the Joker in which he had to stop and take a breath every three to five words because he was growling "this city just show you...that it's full of people...ready to believe in good..." and disguising his voice at all to talk to Lucius Fox was unnecessary for obvious reasons (though it made for a great Mike and Kevin skit)

It's watching those scenes that really make me appreciate Micheal Keaton in the role, and how he actually made Batman talk quietly.

Doctor Who?

I think Kevin Conroy had the best batman voice.  He was able to be scarry with out making it sound silly.  All I know is that everyone I know thinks the voice is silly and they compare Bale's pauses to Shatner's so that can not be good for the image of the franchise and there is a chance that by the time the new movie comes out The dark knight will be remembered as a bad joke.  I just can't understand why Batman would use his scary voice with people like Gordon or Fox,it doesn't make sense.  He isn't trying to scare them and it just makes it sound like he drinks bleech for a living.
