I'm loving the model and camerawork done in that sequence, too, in establishing it. I also grabbed a still of Medusa,



This model doesn't instill the sense of fear Harryhausen's did for me, but I'll give it a shot. It looks as if she's been restored of some of her beauty, facially, as well. And I know I made a small wisecrack about the weight the scorpions seem to have in this over in the photoriff thread, but I'm really digging them.

I'm sure there will be much dismay towards it, but this for me has "blast of a time" at the theater written in my future.

PS: I'm so happy they dropped the "Titans Will Clash" tagline! Oh really?!!! Worst.Tagline.Ever.

Jeepers, that looks sweet. I hope they keep the fun, swashbuckling feel of the Harry Hamlin movie. A lot like Pirates Of The Caribbean. The good first one.

I wasn't too impressed by those stills. The Kraken looks like Cloverfield, and that Medusa looks like a character from a video game cut scene. But after watching the trailer, the actual movie looks like it might be a lot of fun.

Strikes me as more God of War than Clash of the Titans, but still worth a look.

I must admit, after seeing the trailer in one of our screens last night, I realized I'm weirdly excited about this movie.  It looks dumb, but also in that ROCKING way that - as Ronin said - God of War is.

Medusa looks very inaccurate visually. They should have stuck with Harryhausen's much more accurate design. Medusa was hideous to look at.

I don't know...I think Louis Letterier is hoping this movie might make suits think he'd be perfect to helm a God of War movie.

I'm not sure that depiction was more accurate. There are tons of images of Medusa where she isn't hideous to look at; that her gaze turned people to stone was a punishment from Athena but she didn't have to become facially ugly for that to happen. In fact the curse works better if her gaze does that despite her not having ugly facial features.

I love Harryhausen's work but making Medusa monstrously ugly is a bit obvious really.

So are you trying to say that the Medusa with the beautiful face is just a CGI ruse and that the real Medusa render in the movie will be hideous just as she's described in Greek mythology?
