The thing you got to understand is for the most part we are elitists here.  I am reminded of it daily in the military.  People really do like crap like battle field earth, the surreal life, and what not.  They are out there and they like what they like and dont care tuppence for others opinions on the matter.  I know that the movie is made terribly but you cant really explain that to some people.  To them its just neat because its there.

I don't know that I'd consider myself an elitist... I LIKE a lot of "bad" movies, for the sheer, plain, entertainment value of them. I already owned my fair share of the movies riffed so far. But I see your point, we recognize a bad movie when we see one.

Although, I think the ironic thing (while not exactly a black fly in my chardonnay) is that most of us (through MST or otherwise) have seen more terrible, terrible movies than the average person ever will

well not really, remember there are people who LIKE uwe boll movies.  Course they usually have no idea its uwe boll or even who he is (my a few of the guys i work with fit that bill until i educated them).  we have seen more because we know what they are when we see them.

4)Right next to B.E., on the shelf, was none other then BloodRayne :)
BloodRayne requires a savage riffing. The gods of cinema demand it!

Phantom of Krankor

I am Ambassador Phantom, from the planet Krankor! I am rapidly approaching your planet... in the warship, which you have just seen. I will arrive tomorrow night at precisely eight o'clock. At that time I shall make my wishes known to you. You will obey them... or die! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

Wasn't it supposed to be released today?

Give em time... it ain't tomorrow yet.

Doesn't that sort of depend on where you are relative to others you're speaking with? :)

I'll be honest: when I first saw the trailers for BE (back in the day), I thought it was some sort of Klingon spin off movie  :P

Then as she is handing the movie to me she says: "Yeah, it was not that well liked and it got terrible reviews, but I thought it was good!"
I just stared directly at her and with a strait face I said: "Thank you" and I walked out.

I'm sure she didn't really like the movie. She probably snickered at you behind your back. Either that or she's a Scientologist trying to protect her cult...I mean, "religion." There's no way anyone could actually like this movie.

Actually there's a lot of people who not only like a lot of bad movies, but can't tell they're bad movies. Even with ones as bad as Battlefield Earth and Batman and Robin. Overacting, ugly garish costumes and sets, a story more poorly written than a Scooby Doo cartoon... they just don't notice that stuff. It's very weird.

I just finally caved and registered an account on amazon to buy this and I couldn't help but laugh when I scrolled through my shopping cart page and saw these:
