Even if it was some kind of proselytizing Scientology documentary film, you still couldn't distinguish it from a Science Fiction film, because, well, that's what scientology is based on...

...so it's really hard to call it "religious" in the practical sense of the word, nor more than you could call Star-Trek "religious" with all those Klingon-speaking fanboys

what you dont go to the church of khaless ?

"Yes, the MST3K gang is back together in full force to take on the most legendary cinematic blunder since whatever Joel Schumacher's last film was."

I think that's the funniest thing in a Rifftrax blurb yet.  And hints at maybe Batman & Robin?

Ah, all I need now is a quip for the front of the cover and I am done.   I am amazed to actually find a "Battlefield Earth" poster online to use for the cover.   I cannot believe someone digitized that!

Yeah, I think the blurbs on the page are getting funnier every time around...

So I went into Blockbuster tonight to rent a copy of B.E. and they had not 1 but 2 copies of it!

I approach the counter and the nice girl says: "Battlefield Earth...oh yeah, I liked that one" (and she was serious). Then as she is handing the movie to me she says: "Yeah, it was not that well liked and it got terrible reviews, but I thought it was good!"
I just stared directly at her and with a strait face I said: "Thank you" and I walked out.

A couple of interesting points:
1)Whatever information this Exeter possesses should be in our labs and textbooks
2)This copy of B.E that I rented has _never_ been used before; not a scratch on it
3)An able assistant named Joe Wilson can continue with certain experiments while I'm away
4)Right next to B.E., on the shelf, was none other then BloodRayne :)

The moral of the story is that the world is a scary place, wear a helmet

I'm sure she didn't really like the movie. She probably snickered at you behind your back. Either that or she's a Scientologist trying to protect her cult...I mean, "religion." There's no way anyone could actually like this movie.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

Oh she liked it.
You can tell when they're BS-ing you when they try to make small talk about movies. She wasn't BS-ing me. She was dead serious. If she was BS-ing me she wouldn't have said anything about "bad reviews" or "no-one liked it".

The guy on the phone at Best Buy was the same way... I tried to explain why I wanted it, but he half-assedly defended the movie. We're gonna have to deal with that a lot, fellow riffaholics.  ::) They didn't have it anyways so I ended up getting it human-contact-free (thank the Internet).

At Blockbuster they told me Battelfield Earth was due back next week.  And I go "you mean you want Battlefield Earth back?".  And the clerk thought I was serious for a second and then laughed.

I am so pumped about this rifftrax that I just went on ebay and bought a Battlefield Earth Terl (John Travolta) action figure!!
