Yeah, I don't get the hate for the Spawn movie either. It's absolutely not one bit worse than the comic it's based on.

Never saw the comic. I found the movie to be painful, most especially Leguizamo.

Spawn was mostly "meh" for me.  I tried to get into the comics and the animated series with the same kind of result.  I just didn't see any reason to care about the characters.  The movie didn't seem any worse except that the devil looked like he was glued together from pieces of rejected muppets

Actually kind of reminded me of something from an early Mortal Kombat game. The Dr. Claw voice was a nice touch too.

I agree.  Spawn is one of the 5 worst comic book movies ever, for sure.

Nothing worse than an "Ugly Book".  Guess it helped that I never saw the comic...

I remember really digging the animated series,

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying the movie is good; I'm just saying it's not worse than the comic on which it's based.

I have yet to meet even the hardest of hardcore Trekkies who will defend Star Trek V.

Did anyone mention Battlefield Earth yet?

I imagine that there is an entire religion that loves that movie.

Speaking of Star Trek V, I noticed that all the old Star Trek films got their new dvd releases to gear up for the reboot's release.  There's a big display in my store selling them.

It has Star Trek II, IV, VI, and First Contact.  Avoiding all the odd numbered films and Nemesis.

Personally I think Star Trek I was a lot worse than V, yet I have heard people defend I a few times.  Got a few comments like that on my Star Trek I iRiff sample, including one guy who thinks it was a better movie than Star Trek II.

I thought Star Trek the Motion Picture had a good Star Trek-like story, but it went on way too long.

I thought Star Trek the Motion Picture had a good Star Trek-like story, but it went on way too long.

It had the seeds of a story that might have made a good episode (which is was written to be) but it was overinflated, poorly designed visually, had far too big a focus on effects over plot, and most of it had a real problem with the characters.  Kirk was dull as hell and Spock was being a little bitch.  The only character I thought was captured well in all his scenes was McCoy.
