Except that the "personalities" were either cartoonish, "Snidley Whiplash" melodramatic or borderline racist.   Not much original there.
Exactly right, but that's still more than Bella and Edward.
True.

Still, it's like saying that it's better to turn in a test paper with answers you obviously copied from other people than to turn in a blank page because you don't know the answers....

Sucks either way.

I think they are two opposing poles of suck on the same extremity, if you follow me.

Transformers: Stupidest action flick of all stupid action flicks. Also, very racist in bulk of works from a guy with racist-humor-using movies.

Twilight: stupidist chick flick in a long line of stupid chick flicks. Also, has some very disturbing anti-feminist messages in a genre with a long history of disturbing anti-feminist messages.

Transformers: everything is going on all at once, but it amounts to nothing.

Twilight: Nothing is going on for a long time, but when something happens, we don't care.

Yah ken?

Works for me.   :)

Because of Transformers I have seen John Turturro's bare ass.  :gouge:

That's BAD.

Twilight is dumb and dull, but at least there was no Turturro butt-shot.

YES!  Emphatically.  With zero doubt whatsoever in my mind.  The Transformers series is WORSE than Twilight.  Following is my support for this thesis.

1) Shia Lebeouf
2) Michael Bay
3) Shia Lebeouf
4) it's actually easier to watch two people mumbling furtively about "buttcrack santa" than it is to watch several indistinguishable robots fighting one another, shown only in shots that last 1/13th of one second.
5) twilight was bad, but was at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing
6) twilight did not have Shia Lebeouf
7) transformers 2 was so bad, even the rifftrax didn't make it less repulsive
8) Shia Lebeouf
9) seriously... what pants-crappingly insane studio executive thinks that kid can pose as an action protagonist or that any person with a hint of a brain would cheer for anything other than his violent annihilation in an action sequence?

I honestly didn't have a problem with Shia Le Beouf himself, it's his character that is so irritatingly pointless and showhorned into the movie in the most poorly written way. That's not his fault.

Yeah, but you can say that about his character in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as well....

At what point does it go from just bad screenwriting to it being his on screen persona?

I agree. That character was shoehorned in, too.

How was he in his other movies like Eagle Eye and Disturbia?

Eagle Eye was a lot better than I expected. I think I wrote up a quick review on onewallcinema.com

Never saw them.  Also found out just now that he was in an episode of "The X Files" that I don't recognize....and I thought I'd seen all the ones with Duchovny.

Doctor Who?

I just thought of something.  Transformers is worse because an army of geeky kids are growing up watching them which mean that in 20 years time not only will they be hailed as classics but they will be the template all future action movies are based on.  Transformers could still be doing damage in 20 years time when Twilight is forgotten as just another fad.

good point.  transformers as a lasting impact would be far worse than twilight.  god help us.

Which is ironic, because if this is what had come out in the 80s instead of the TV show, then Transformers would not have bee the phenominon it was.

Phantom of Krankor

Both movie series have one thing in common, they both impose bad sexual themes to kids.

Twilight has a creepy sexual anti-femenist tone.

Transformers is heavily marketed to kids but has LOADs of sexually explict material (robot scrotum, Turturro's ass, Megan Fox's bouncing boobs).

Makes me pray for the future of humanity.
I am Ambassador Phantom, from the planet Krankor! I am rapidly approaching your planet... in the warship, which you have just seen. I will arrive tomorrow night at precisely eight o'clock. At that time I shall make my wishes known to you. You will obey them... or die! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!
