In other words, the people who made it realize that they've made a laughably bad movie, and attempt ex post facto to pass it off as a self-aware comedy.

At least, thats what this io9 article says.

"We meant to do that! Really!"

I really didn't have any intention of seeing this in the theater... and still don't... but that trailer didn't look that bad. It looks like pretty much what I expected it to be... a big, dumb action movie. Also, it's a pretty big leap to turn three seconds of comic relief from a 90 second trailer into "passing it off as a self-aware comedy". I would really find it hard to believe that anybody involved in the production of this movie actually ever thought they would fool people into thinking it would be good.  If it lives up to the "from the director of The Mummy" billing... then we're going to get a piece of shit, but a generally entertaining piece of shit.

Ah....the "Showgirls Gimmick"!  When they tried to re-package it as a Midnight movie after sweeping the Razzies...

Doctor Who?

Didn't Little Shop of Horrors try that too?

Yeah, this isn't too much of a surprise. When the first trailers appeared and the film looked like "Iron Man 2" instead of a film about an elitie military force, the fan community pretty much wrote this one off.  It'll probably end up being this year's Speed Racer.

Which one - Corman's or the musical?

Although it's obvious that both were meant to be black comedies from the begnning..

Doctor Who?

The first one.

I thought Corman released it as a horror movie and then claimed it was a comedy after it got laughs.

Wait.. The GI Joe movie is in theaters?

Nah....that was definately written as a black comedy.  Kind of like A Comedy of Terrors later on.

Just look at the name of the woman who comes in everyday for flowers for some family member who died - Mrs. Shiva.  Shiva is a Hebrew word for the week of mourning over a dead loved one.

There are other Hebrew and Yiddish in that movie done for comedy - nothing else is coming to mind at the moment - that couldn't have been done as an after thought.

August 7th. Still a few weeks away.

The same mouth-breathers who think T2: Revenge of the Fallen  is brilliant will love this as is....

From the looks of the trailers I've seen it's got all the same things.....

CGI overkill, people not just living through impossible situations but walking away without a scratch (a car falls and lands on it's roof???), people and things crashing through windows and/or walls with no regard for other human life (while claiming they're protecting humanity).

"500 Explosions and A Super Nova"

So what are they worried about?

That's a joke?  I think Mike,Bill, and Kevin need to hit the screenwriter hard for that one.

It's subtile humor....like casting Dick Miller in Gremlins.

New io9 article:

http://io9.com/5315524/will-gi-joe-be-the-worst-movie-of-the-year

Title self-explanatory. One has to love the part about the "Cum Grenade Launcher"...

Cosmic Muse

I thought the hot couple on GI Joe was Duke and Scarlett, not Scarlett and a Wayans brother.  ???
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?
