In suck-confirming news, the movie's not being screened for critics before its release. 

Paramount studios has decided not to do media screenings for it's new and highly anticipated film "GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra."

The Hollywood Reporter has written that "In a highly unusual move, Paramount will open its summer tentpole "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" on Friday without screening it beforehand for critics or other media."

It is also being reported that Paramount doesn't want the negative reviews that preceded the release of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". Transformers has done well at the box office, however Paramount must feel that it could of done better had there not been so many bad reviews.

The few trailers I have seen for "GI Joe" have looked pretty good. The game was demonstrated at a special event put on by EA games, and the game looked and played very well. So.....what's going on.

I understand that it was shown to some military personnel, and received good reviews. Also, that some other people, not in show business viewed the film and also like it, this was reported by Yahoo news.

Obviously, Paramount wants the audience to decide if the film is good or not. This could mean two things; they know the film isn't going to be well received, or they are honestly miffed by the "Transformers" reviews.

I guess we will see this weekend when "GI Joe: The Rise of the Cobra" opens in theaters.

I'm trying to go into it with an open mind, but I have to say the trailers I've seen so far haven't instilled me with much confidence that it's going to be good.

Devin from CHUD liked it, too. Love him or hate him, he's at least a bit more repectable than Harry*.

*I actually really like Harry's reviews, I just can't base anything on them alone.
