Yes, I think Moleman and Grug just assume that Mike, Kevin and Bill have much thinner skin then they actually have. Probably just a projectionist way of thinking.

Well I'm not really sure what you mean by that but I am "projecting" in that I don't think it would be right for me, as an iRiffer, to go around to other iRiffs and say they suck or are overrated (even though there really are a few I feel that way about).  There's no reason to do that and what would saying that possibly achieve anyway?

And no I don't believe Bill is deeply offended that the Quiptracks guy said something bad about something associated with Rifftrax.  I was really just telling invader quirk for his benefit because some people might see it that way.

Sounds like someone's cruising for a "sighing."

If you're not sure what I mean, then don't worry about it.

Quirk doesn't "go around" and say that others "suck or are over-rated". Let's try and hang out here in reality and keep things in perspective.

Nor do I believe that BIll is deeply offended, and yes, I'm sure that you had Quiptracks best interests in mind with your post.

Moleman

If I'm going "outside reality" than I apologize because as I mentioned I'm not a regular so I don't pay attention to Invader Quirks day by day posting activities and therefore I have no clue of what he does or doesn't do.

All I'm saying is that if Bill, a guy who only rarely comes on here and doesn't spend hours a day reading what other people post to know how each of them are personally, can get that impression then other people can get that impression too.

No reason to play amateur psychologist :P

It's a little unfair to take Quirk to task for being critical of RiffTrax product and trying to sell his own riffs, when RiffTrax essentially invited him to do so by hosting this forum and opening iRiffs, respectively.  But I'm pretty sure Bill wasn't reacting to Quirk's actions so much as his perception of Quirk's attitude.

Speaking only for myself here: Quirk, your posts do tend to come off as a tad arrogant, as though you think you're above everyone here including your RIffTrax hosts.  Even your complimentary reviews read as though they're being proclaimed from on high.  And that perception is not improved by the fact that you don't really contribute anything to these forums apart from promoting QuipTracks and commenting on others' riffs.

Hey, for all I know you really are on a level above everyone else, and either way, you're within your rights to act that way if you want to.  But if you do, you have to realize that not everyone is going to appreciate it, and eventually somebody is going to call you out on it.  Certainly, Bill is under no obligation to hold his tongue at what he perceives to be regular negative criticism, whether that assessment is entirely accurate or not.

I have a lot of respect for Rifftrax, you in particular, and it's painful to see a comment like this. I feel it was uncalled for. Maybe I did not interpret your post as it was meant to be interpreted, but it seemed very mean-spirited. I hope this response doesn't seem hot-headed or disrespectful, because I don't mean it that way. Type can have emotion projected onto it so easily.

IQ,

Haven't been on the forum for a few days, sorry.

All fair points.  You're right, too harsh.  Actually not meant quite as harsh as it now reads, in retrospect... but still, not my most shining internet moments.  Apologies.

I actually do try to peruse the forum whenever I can, especially about how the Rifftrax releases are being received.  It's a good dose of reality.  It's not complete reality because it tends to represent those who are passionate about Rifftrax (and that can break either way), MST3K, and riffing in general.   But it's feedback, and there's usually something useful to know.   Criticism is valid, and welcome, and mostly I read it without comment and see if there's something we might be missing.  I know we get plenty of credit, too, lest I sound like a complete prima dona.

Believe me, I know that not everything we put out is perfect.  There are times I listen to one later and feel like we didn't do a good job, either in parts or in its entirety.   What sometimes rankles -- not often, but obviously this time -- is when someone takes a line or two out of hundreds and offers it as evidence that we're hacks.   (This isn't new. We got it after every episode of MST3K, too.)

But it comes with our peculiar territory, which is mostly a real blast.    So again, apologies.    I hope we're square.  If not, please message me here at the site or: Bill at Rifftrax dot com.

Or maybe he just doesn't like people making blanket judgments on the quality of his writing based on a few isolated minutes in a sample.  What the hell do I know?

Invader_quirk

Thank you, Bill, for your highly respectable (as I've come to expect) response. We're cool and square.... like a compact fridge. Apologies for causing trouble all the time and for the high-and-mighty air I apparently have (unintentionally). I'm 17 and my brain is constantly working against me as far as tact goes.

Yeah, well... sorry for kinda bluntly pointing that out.  Like I said, it's just my perception.  Others almost certainly feel differently.

Just so you know, I didn't mention it to be a jerk.  Based on your samples and your contributions to the Speed riff, I think you're a talented writer with a ton of potential.  I just thought you might be unaware of how you sometimes come off on here.

So you see, I only made you feel like shit for your own enrichment.

Wow, you're only 17!?  Aside from me now feeling like even more of a douche...

You're working at a pretty amazing level for someone your age.   Congratulations.

Just to throw my hate in the ring (no, not a typo)....   Personally, I think Bill sucks....  his nook!!!   ;D

I thought it was a charming eccentricity.

OK, so I finally watched this controversial Rifftrax Presents (along with my wife and a friend of ours) and...

We loved it. It killed.

We three would love to see a return of Jonathan, Paul and Storm. (Or Jonathan and John Hodgman! They are really good friends, and I bet Hodgman would do it!)

Whoever wrote the first 20 minutes really excelled. If I were choosing the sample it would be from that section. Especially because the sample chosen makes it look like that running gag runs through the entire track (even though I liked that gag just fine - I can see why it was worrying to folks).

About 30 minutes in my wife declared it a great track, and said the same again this morning. She was really a fan.
