Ghostbusters II has two main problems: It's too much of a rehash of the original flick's formula, and it's too preachy.

That said, it is still endlessly quotable. The "World of the Psychic" scene alone is worth the price of the DVD.

Agreed. I can't believe Dan Ackroyd wrote that one. It feels so much like a Hollywood hack who didn't really "get" the first movie wrote it. I do love the courtroom stuff though. The idea of having consequences from the first movie is brilliant and more of Rick Moranis is always good. "Because one time I turned into a dog and they helped me." "My guys are still under a Judicial Estrangement Order. That blue thing I got from her!"

Hmm.  I remember GBII as being absolutely arsetastic, BUT I remembered Temple of Doom the same way, and when I watched it again last year after swearing off of it for 23 years, or whatever, I actually found that it was pretty okay.  Maybe I oughtta give GBII another try.

As long as you don't go in with high expectations you might like it. As stupid as it gets, it still has great comic actors at their prime making the most with what they get.

Actually, I'll agree with any vitriol spewed against Indy 2. Willie and Short Round make Brody and Sallah look like...well, like Indy himself.

Short round is kind of cool, but Willie is utterly useless and a detriment to anyone or anything around her. Until Polly in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, she topped my list of alltime worst female movie characters.

This might be the first thing I've seen you say that I disagree with; I prefer Indy 2 to Indy 3. It's just more fun without making Indy into a clown.

...

So no one is leery of the whole Alyssa Milano / Eliza Dushku casting?

-Rude

Oh yes, I'm kept up at nights thinking about them in front-zipper jumpsuits.

GB3 is gonna be a rediculous, scattershot mess -- it'll be part reunion special / part passing-the-torch bs and contain excessive nods to the first two movies.  Also, it'll be slap-sticky and replete with bad jokes and bad cg.

You see what I did?  I just made GB3 better using a little trick called "lowered expectations".   ;)

But come on. There's implied man-on-toaster action.

Disembaudios need loving too.

Is that what that is?  I always call it hilarious bitching about something that doesn't exist...  not as catchy I grant you/

Maybe that is where Disembaudio came from?

I hear a little more of Venkman.

"Back off, man.  I'm a toaster."

I've seen three movies in the past few days. Up was excellent. The Hangover was ok. Year One was.....for the love of god, don't see it.

Why do I bring this up you ask? Well apparently Gene Stupnitsk and Lee Eisenberg, the team who wrote this flop with Director Harold Ramis, are also writing Ghostbusters III.  :o  >:(  ??? Needless to say if their script gets a green light from the studio, I won't be in any rush to see it.
