After watching "Sunday Go To Meetin' Place", I decided to try my hand at editing out all the racist bits.  Whaddaya think?

I dunno, some of those chickens look a bit minstrel show-ish.

Apparently "Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips" isn't even one of the "Censored 11."  Well shit.  There are maybe 2 in that group that I give a crap about, then.  What about all the ones starring "Inki"? Surely those are only going to get released in this format too?

"Inki at the Circus," "Inki and the Lion," and "The Little Lion Hunter." were released on VHS on "I Taw a Putty Tat"

"Inki and the Minah Bird." was on a DVD called "Cartoon Craze".

Don't know if this is the limit of Inki cartoons that have been released.....but they haven't been so afraid of these cartoons in the past.  I think because Inki isn't shown with a lot of the stereotypes (other than the unfortunate drawing of his lips).  He's not perfect but he's shown as a determined little hunter who has some brains.

Americathon

QuoteIn 1998 the world's oil supply is exhausted. The U.S. Treasury is empty and in deep debt to a billionaire businessman (Chief Dan George) who'll foreclose on the nation in 30 days. The solution: a telethon to save Uncle Sam from bankruptcy. And with this way-out-there premise as a launching pad, Americathon explodes into comic outer space. Written by Firesign Theatre veterans Phil Proctor and Peter Bergman, this wickedly funny – and 30 years later, outrageously timely – escapade stars Harvey Korman as an ego-tripping emcee, Fred Willard as a scheming White House aide and John Ritter as a mellow fellow of a President. Has the country got a prayer when the people running the show haven't got a clue? Tune in to this all-stops-out extravaganza of hilarity and – strange but true – foreboding.

Also features Meat Loaf, Elvis Costello and Dorothy Stratten in a small role.

I've got to watch this one of these days. We referenced The Green Slime at one point in the Quiptracks HULK and they had to explain it to me.

I always thought the only interest in this movie was in that it was part of the unseen MST3K pilot...

I watched this riff a while ago. I wasn't a big fan of the "trying to recreate MST3K" thing, but it was damn funny!

Oldies.com is having a Warner Archives sale.....

Don't think The Green Slime is included but there's some interesting stuff that is.

Including "The Life And Adventures Of Santa Claus (1985) / Nestor Long-Eared Christmas Donkey"

Wow. I actually won a call-in contest  once because I knew that the clip they were playing was from this film.  I don't even remember what DVD I won.

BTW: this film also features Jay Leno in one of his few acting roles.

I've never seen this but heard it mentioned so many times on MST3K...thought someone would like to know.

The Phantom Tollbooth is being released by Warner Archive.

Also, good news/bad news for Bullwinkle fans....

If you haven't bought any seasons of the show yet, this is coming out January 4th.

The bad news: the price is $99** and no announcement (so far) of the fifth season selling separately.  Even for those who waited....when you can currently get the first four seasons for under $50 total....this price is a real slap in the face.  The extras look cool of course but this takes "double dipping" too far.

(** This might be suggested retail.  Google Shopping shows that DVD Empire and CD Universe list it for the mid $70's...Barnes & Noble for $85.  But Amazon, Target and Walmart are all sticking with $99)

Wonder how long those of us who have been buying them all along will now have to wait to complete our set?

EDIT:  And Warner just sent me an email about this....

"In this fondly remembered animated series..."   :o  That some of us didn't even know existed....  :D

First 400 pre-ordered copies will be autographed by James (The Killer Shrews) Best!!!!

Govern yourselves accordingly.

I've seen it. It's very surreal. (And very, very Chuck Jones-y.)

Why do I get the feeling this is one of those movies that (almost) everyone's seen baked....   :D

Tripe

I've never seen the film, I seem to remember rather liking the book.
