The 3rd item down, for quite some time, is MTV's Daria. A spin-off of Beavis and Butt-head, the show's only seen a pair of minor DVD releases back in 2002: Daria - The Movie: Is It Fall Yet? and Daria - Is It College Yet?. For the past seven years there's been no further word...until now!

Marty Day, who runs the website Blast-O-Rama.com, received an early copy yesterday of another long-awaited MTV program, The State. Marty's e-mail to us, describing what happened next, just about says it all: "Popped in the first disc, and wouldn't you know it, the DVD starts with an ad promoting Daria hitting DVD in 2010. I guess they're following one 'couldn't be done' release with another! Marty was also kind enough to send us a screen capture as proof...we've got that below!

This is incredible news for the thousands of registered members of this site, who have voted for Daria to get a proper release on DVD. We're obviously going to be keeping a sharp eye out for more info about this 2010 DVD release, so stay tuned and we'll update you!

No news as of yet as to whether it's the original music used in the series or the generic stuff used in reruns.

I think your first clue is in the lower right hand corner of that picture - cheapskates.

Hey anyone know if we are ever going to get a DvD release of the original version of Fantasia and not Fantasia 2000 or the live version.

I haven't seen Fantasia since I was a kid and I really want to see it again.

Rattrap007

currently one US transformers series is missing.. Robots In Disguise.

Amazon Marketplace sellers have it here: http://www.amazon.com/Fantasia-Special-Anniversary-Leopold-Stokowski/dp/B00003CX9W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1248602841&sr=1-1

Or, if you want the 3-disc set (including both the original & 2000, and a full disc of behind-the-scenes stuff [this is the one I have]) try here: http://www.amazon.com/Fantasia-Anthology-3-Disc-Collectors/dp/B00004Y7S5/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1248602841&sr=1-2

Hope that helps.   :)

Haven't looked back through this entire thread to see if this was already mentioned, but a DVD I'd love is the complete series of The Maxx that aired on MTV ages ago.  I'd recorded it when it was on (on VHS), and then mistakenly taped over that after buying the pre-recorded videotape (before realizing the thing had been severely edited, including completely removing the episode that - in the comic - had Savage Dragon in it [for the cartoon they'd already changed the character to something non-copyrighted (and non-green  ;) ), but for the videotape they skipped the episode entirely]).

So I have an 'as-good-as-possible' homemade DVD of the videotape, but it'd be nice to have a professional DVD with all the episodes present.

And of course, Season 3 of The Tick cartoon series (with the damn missing episodes from the first two seasons included on there!)  For some reason, Region 2 (PAL) gets The Tick complete, including season 3, but we don't?!?!  [It also would've been nice if they didn't butcher the encoding so bad that the picture jitters when they are played on the Region 1 discs.  It's like the friggin things were encoded for PAL, then that was translated to NTSC and THAT was what they released domestically!]

I did not know there was a The Maxx TV show. I wish I could get that for my brother, he loved The Maxx.

The cartoon was often a word-for-word translation of the comic series, VERY well done; he'd probably love it.

If you have file sharing (torrenting) capability there's other amateur DVDs of the series on some file-sharing sites.  I just looked after writing this and found a set on Demonoid that someone made from their original off-air VHS tapes.  It even had the missing episode... but you have to be a member on Demonoid to get in/on, and their membership allowances have made it so that they seldom take new members.  Since I'm still downloading it I have no clue how good it really is, but the 95(!) people who left comments seemed to be impressed.  Regardless, I'd still buy an official DVD if it was of the complete series... but this should hold me over til then.  :)

** NOTICE: I do not endorse illegal file sharing.  [However, if a company refuses to actually release something that people want, getting a copy of someone else's recording of an off-air free broadcast seems quite reasonable.]

Agreed. Especially if you intend to buy the product once it goes on sale.

Amen.  Don't bitch someone's got your movie (music, whatever) without you making money when you refuse to let them pay you.

I recommend patience, Grasshopper.

Disney is releasing Snow White again in November.  I seem to recall that Fantasia was part of the next Seven Year Wave after the group that she was in when the DVDs first came out.  And that one will be Blu-Ray.

Hard to believe there's nowhere else to borrow a copy.....and there's some bits you can't see on the DVD.  Look up "Fantasia 1940".

mrbasehart

And they still haven't released the Salvador Dali segment that was intended for that movie.  There's an extremely crappy CAM version of it on Youtube, but that's not the version I want to see.  Come on Disney!
