It doesn't sound like you guys have a plan to combat this Michael Moore that's so critical of the his own country. It sounds like you're just nitpicking.

It's all a matter of the prism you view things with.  If you agree with Michael Moore on some things then criticism of him is just nitpicking.  But if you flip it around, and you don't agree with him, what's to say the other side isn't valid?

And apparently, yes, the plan was to combat Michael Moore with this movie - it just doesn't help that most great film makers are crazy liberals ;)

It's really a shame the movie isn't better. Because the best way to combat someone like Moore is with humor; pointing out the "inaccuracies" (see? I'm being magnanimous!) in his films is like shooting fish in a barrel. That's why I wish more people had seen Michael Moore Hates America; it's less about the fundamental dishonesty of Moore's films, and more about challenging his negative viewpoint regarding his own country.

Well I've never been one to view his movies as documentaries, more of opinion pieces and I've only seen "Bowling For Columbine" and "Roger and Me".

What movie isn't an opinion piece?

And anytime you film something or someone you change things.  Unless you film it without their knowledge.  Which is illegal....unless it's a news story.

There's a theory about scientific research (can't remember the name of it) that says that just the act of observation always changes that which is observed just by that action.

I don't know that Moore would even call his movies documentaries rather than "opinion pieces" except that he has to work within the studio system and they call anything that uses real life situations "documentary".

When I think documentaries I usually think of something that the History Channel or BBC would release like their WWII documentaries. I mean they still document things from the side that won, but I think you can see where I'm coming from.

Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principal, though that's really just the pop science explanation of it :)

Which lead onto Schrödinger's cat as a critique of it (or really the Copenhagen interpretation of Quantum Mechanics in general).

Cool Physics! Now this is a topic I really enjoy. :D

the quotes I posted are all Moore insulting his fellow Americans, which is nothing to do with patriotism, and instead illustrates his hateful, negative outlook.

I see it as a disappointed outlook myself, like a parent who's kid has gone off the rails.

That is a terrific analogy, given the condescension with which Moore treats pretty much everyone other than himself.

Hey, my Democrat brethren. Want to know why your party hasn't won a national election since 1996?

I give you Exhibit A:

Does it have anything to do with the fact that Liberals can see the world in more than just "black or white" like the Conservatives do?

One of the big reasons Obama's doing so well is that his campaign is eschewing the sort of bitterness and hate expressed above. His biggest potential Achilles' heel? The arrogance and stridency of all too many of his supporters.

I'm not sure how you can tie the Obama campaign to PSCD's statement there. He's pointed out that there are problems with America, but I haven't seen hatred or bitterness directly from the campaign. You have to identify a problem to fix it, I don't see how that is hateful. Do you believe there are major problems with America that need fixed? I do, I might not have answers for fixing them but that doesn't make me hateful for stating something I see.

Thank you, my brain skips things sometimes and somehow with your posts it skips the real important words. Quite embarrassing.

Since when is Obama a liberal?

Yes, this looks like crap. Why is it that conservatives can't even make a funny spoof movie about such an easy target like Michael Moore?

Conservatives have a harder time laughing at themselves which is necessary for humor.
