Used to work with a guy like that, though he was in his thirties. Really nice guy, but also the more redneckish type (so loved these movies, beer, and nascar). And though his taste in comedies sucked (all the ... Movies he loved, along with The Comebacks and all other similar types of crap), the man knew his horror movies pretty damn well, so it evens out in my book.

My brother love horror movies too.

Maybe that has something to do with it.

He and his friends also seem to think every time one of these movies comes out it teaches the makers of the movies that are being parodied a lesson.

Yeah I'm sure the producers really care that abad movies that makes no sense and make maybe 1/4 of what their Blockbusters make is out there

I noticied in the thread referenced that Rocky Horror Picture show was on the list of overrated.  The movie was complete crap and that was the point.  That is the first movie I can remember that it was cool to talk back to the screen (and it was being done well before MST arrived on the scene).  I have never heard anyone say that was a good film.
