Doesn't that new 'Avatar' movie look like a movie from hell?  And, yeah, yeah it does.

Not sure I'd  go that far but it certainly looks terribly dull and formulaic. :)

Doctor Who?

So is the movie only going to be in 3D at Imax theaters or is it going to be 3D at any theater that has 3D?  If it is the latter i amy go to see it just to see that didital 3D looks like in live action.

The second one.

One thing that's interesting is that the 2d and 3d versions are different aspect ratios.  The 2d version is scope and the 3d one flat.  Now unless two different versions were made by Cameron, one of them has been cropped or resized altogether.  The most likely answer seems to be that the 3d version is the "proper" version, as full screen might be easier for the imax format.

That's it I have to see it now.
I will go friday or monday.  I think i heard that Cameran said that the 3D version was the way he meant it to be seen.  If that is true i am thinking it may be a first in movie history.

WHY, OH, WHY is this getting positive reviews?

I'm going to go with, the people who are reviewing it liked it.

Speaking of being confused, did anybody else think that the title meant a film version of The Last Airbender?

Me too.

A lot of people on Ain't It Cool News are calling it "James Cameron's Thundersmurfs".

I agree.

...what does that even mean? o.0

I think it means ThunderCats, but instead of with Cats, with Smurfs instead. And... I don't know why but I've always hated James Cameron. Not because I don't like his movies but I think he's a pompous ass who is seriously due for a few razzies. For Example, and I'm probably the only one to believe this, but I think ALL his movies are mediocre, not good, not bad, just mediocre. Aliens was nothing special, neither was Terminator, Terminator 2, the Abyss, Aliens(did I mention that?) or Titanic. I like the Cameron in Ferris Bueller's day off a lot better.

Eh, looks like a lot of work for nothing terribly interesting.

Nice sound and visual work though.

3-d doesn't work for me, never will, unless they can tailor it to my uneven vision which I'd hardly expect them to do.

Action sequences don't do anything for me.

It sounds deadly.

The Cracked review sounds like it might have Fox coming to have a little talk.....

And remember AICN - Fat Harry claimed to have seen SW: The Phantom Empire before the other critics in an hotel room and said it was geinus...until the FBI wanted details and had to admit he lied.  Take anything they say with a salt lick.

I'm baffled that people in here want this movie to fail. I know some of you might not like James Cameron, but really, he knows how to make a good movie, unlike hacks such as Paul W.S. Anderson, Uwe Boll or Michael Bay. Seriously, what's your beef with Cameron? Is it because of Titanic?
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Overall I like Cameron's stuff, but only like a couple a lot.  Aliens is probably my favorite of his movies.  Never been much of a Terminator fan, but if I'm watching the first two I can sit back and enjoy.  I'm sure I'll give this movie a chance, but I really didn't know what to think of it when I started seeing previews.  The only thing on my mind was Starship Troopers vs. Ferngully.

I don't think there's really anyone saying that for the most part

Um, I think people have said that they don't really like his films overmuch that's not really having a beef with the man.

I do know a number of people who have worked with him who do have a beef with him due to him being a bit of a wanker on set, but that's a personality trait that's hardly unique.

Personally the film looks really boring, from the trailer to the details released about it. Lie I said, I'm sure it'll be very technically interesting but a) I won't be able to experience one of the major technological aspects and b) I can watch a tech feature on those and not have to bother with watching a movie without an involving plot.

It got called "Smurfahontas" on BBC radio.  I laughed.
