I'm a little lost on everything we've agreed on, so I might be going on about something that isn't even in the air anymore, but if we go with the "Vader and Anakin are seperate people to keep the surprise in the original trilogy," then the Sith needs to make a move on both of them so that we could accept that either of them could turn to the Dark Side.

It would also make a really interesting final shot in Episode III. Vader and Anakin, both partly on the Dark Side, face off for a battle we never see the results of. They turn on their lightsabers, run at each other, both strike... then end credits.

Just a thought.

....but then Obi Wan would have been telling the truth! And I don't mean just from a different point of view!

...I don't know, how would you even do that? Make Anakin and Vader a separate character?

Junkyard

Yeah, it's an interesting idea, but not one I'd go for.

Meanwhile, the head dancer clone thing actually does seem like it has a lot of potential. The "same programming, differnt face" clones could allow for levels of manipulation by Palpatine, and the paranoia they produce would further help him. Meanwhile, a different class of clones, these easily produced copies, could still be involved in a wide- scale outside invasion.

It starts with clones being advertised as "better than droids," and being integrated into society at all levels,
then the Jedi and Palpatine ( :o) blow the lid off the true purpose of the clones, and the outright war starts in ernest. The Jedis help in the fighting, while Palpatine works to root out the hidden clones in society and government. (While really- ah, you get it.) This could also help in the removal of 1 or 2 of the 12.

Again, thoughts?

To further expand on that then, by the third movie A has, due to his retirement in normal life and growing dissatisfaction that lead to his retirement, begun to believe that it is OK to dabble with the darkside if it is in the service of a greater good.

Because A is no longer a Jedi K. has taken Vader as his apprentice and they both come to persuade A to become an active Jedi again.

Despite their differing motivations Vader and A are equally matched in how mired they are in the Dark Side of the force.

It would make "Vader" searching for the son of Skywalker look more like a personal vendetta until the shocking revelation.

Yeah I like that idea. :)

Hmm so we have a bit of an issue here, I think it can work either way, other thoughts on that people?

Yeah that was pretty much the way I was seeing it go, the paranoia is important as it helps tilt the whole republic in a darker direction.

GregMcduck

So, ok, if I got this right, the clones do not become the stormtroopers in this version. Is that correct?

Not if I have anything to do with it, it;s stupid and robs the ST of any value they might have had.

I like that the ST are made up of volunteers in the Imperial Army, the officers aren't clones I don't see why the grunts should be.

I mean presumably many of the Rebel troops originally had Imperial training.

I've finished a detailed outline of what I think the Phantom Menace should be...I wrote it in about four hours...so it isn't my best work, but I was planning on typing it up later and posting it here.

Hmm...actually I might wait until I can post II and III as well.

Again, this isn't going off of what you guys are saying, but feel free to use what I have come up with. Before I was just going to write an outline of the three movies...but I'm actually starting to think that I should write it out into a novel form. Not very big...maybe 20,000 words per episode. And then let people who want to read it for free.

I'm really proud of what I"ve got so far...the Jedi in particular are freaking awesome (there are some hefty changes I made). Anakin and Padme now complement eachother...none of this "I'm in agony" madness.

...but as I'm a huge fan of stories where the hero fails...or falls (which is why I loved Harvey Dent's story in Dark Knight so much), I"m going to keep it to just Anakin, and not create a Vader character as well.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do about the Clones though...I kind of like the idea that nobody really knows where they came from. But we'll see, I'll figure that out when I come to it. A lot of my ideas just came through freewriting, making it up as I went along.

Yeah, let the clones be pretty much whiped out, as a callus bridge burning on the part of Palpatine.

By the way, I'm actually warming to the Vader/Anakin confusion idea. It would make the prequel-original connection seem less forced, it would add more conflict. Yeah, I vote we try to expand on it as we go further, see how it works.

Fact is, my mind tends to write more for order. I'm not good at writing conflict, since I have a suprisingly logical approch to things. (No, really, it's just that everyone else is insane.)

I think Greg's end to the third Movie is excellent, the bzzz-fzzzt as the blades collide then the swirling chords of the dark accented theme (maybe we could get Phillip Glass to chip in a few bars with Williams  ;)) and out, is really very appealing.

Hey, it's possible to make them separate characters while still having them be the "same" character, in a manner of speaking.  They could make up opposite sides of the same coin kinda sorta.  It's been done before.

I'm not saying that it's a good idea, because I don't think it is.  Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I dunno.  There's nothing that says that by the time of the original trilogy, the stormtroopers can't be made up of clones AND regular people.

The idea that Stormtroopers are all clones is really, really stupid. It's just way easier to conscript people that others have already raised and put them through training than it is to fucking grow and raise children in gov't orphanages.

Yeah, tell that to Hideo Kojima. ;)

You know what bothers me?    If some really good plot revisions can be done via an internet forum, why the hell could a bunch of writers not do the same thing instead of giving us what they gave us?    I KNOW they did not set out to write such crap...... how did that happen?

BBQ Platypus

Oh!  And one thing before I forget!  Jango Fett should NOT BE IN THE TRILOGY AT ALL.  Thank you.
