Yeah, during the whole trailer I was just thinking 'Come on, just build your monster on a separate island'.

You expect that kind of thinking from the people who thought, "You know how this park failed and several people died? You know what they did wrong? They didn't think BIG enough!"

That takes some giant dump truck sized brass balls right there.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

Quirk

I have become very excited about this. Yeah, the company is clearly a bunch of idiots, but so was Hammond.

Richard Attenborough really sold the childlike wonder, deadly curiosity, and irrepressible fascination with playing god(even succeeding and reveling in it), subsequently failing in containing his creations, and finally recognizing his hubris after it is too late. This is not an easy thing to sell me on(or more importantly, audiences). Is it going to be Vincent D'Onofrio? I hope it's Vincent D'Onofrio, and not say, Ron Howard's kid or Cheryl from Archer.

As long as he smashes a raptors head off with a car door, I will be all set.  Too soon?

I got my ticket and I'm super pumped to be seeing it.  ;D

Whew. Okay, I was a little worried there. Until today I couldn't find a single review of Jurassic World. Thankfully, the reviews have come in and they're not as bad as I feared they might have been.

All the reviews I saw were clearly adds disguised as reviews. I plan to see it regardless because my family wants to see it with me for some reason, probably nostalgia for the first one.

Relaxing Dragon

Caught it last night, and was quite unimpressed. It has all the trappings of that modern lackluster blockbuster sequel: the action sequences are entirely too lightweight, all the characters are just sort of there and that you will forget about when they're not onscreen, and a plot that manages to be both too complex and completely hollow all at once.  Some of the dinosaur attack stuff is fun, and there's funny moments here and there, but most of it all just comes off as another ho-hum special effects binge that we've all seen before (and done better). People die and get eaten, but there's no weight to any of the proceedings, even the big climax that the movie assumes will work on concept alone. That sense of wonder is long gone, and there's no effort put in place to really recapture it.

What's weird is that the movie seems to be aware of all of the above, too. It spends a lot of time talking about (through plenty of not-so-subtle cues and dialogue) how great the original movie is and how modern audiences just don't appreciate the simple stuff any more, and needs things bigger and badder and cooler. Despite not being any of those. Thematically speaking, the movie seems to outright hate itself, which is actually a rather interesting thing to watch.

So, not terrible, but not good. I wouldn't call The Lost World and III good movies, but I got a lot to like out of them. This one is definitely the weakest of the franchise.

ALSO: the whole movie served as a constant reminder as to how bad modern movie scores are. The original iconic theme pops up from time to time (sometimes just for the sake of it), and it's always great. The rest of the new soundtrack I was forgetting while it was actively playing in the background.

Seems like a bad score would be easy to notice, too.  Though I'm not sure about it being the worst one.  May have to see it sometime.

It seems like he meant it was just boring.  Boring scores are easy to forget.
