Cute, but the idea of vindictive filmmakers sacrificing the quality of the franchise by riddling a film with petty insults--just to spitefully "get back" at the fanbase who rejected their work--hits a little too close to home.

On a totally unrelated note, rumor is that Kathleen Kennedy has already been fired.

I gotta say, that was pretty funny.  ;D

Despite the title, this is a broad analysis of the popularity of Star Wars since the beginning, including the lack of popularity overseas, and decline of the franchise as a whole under Disney.

The most worrying parts start about halfway in, with the (unprecedented) loss of established SW fans.

EDIT: They had to reupload the vid.

The rise and fall? Did... somebody forget that there were years before 2015 were Star Wars wasn't exactly at it's greatest? I mean I want to be gentle about how I phrase this because I don't want to offend anybody or hurt someone's feelings but honestly? The way I see it, Star Wars is thriving. It doesn't matter to me that Solo is not raking in the dough like Disney expected. What's most important is that with my own feelings and experiences with the franchise and having put all kinds of points of view together in my head... I honestly, truthfully can't get enough Star Wars from Disney and I'll be seeing their Star Wars movies until my dying day.

Some people just want it to be exactly the same forever. Never change and never grow.

Imrahil

You mean...remain the same property we liked?

Some of us didn't ask for it to change. Or even continue. :)

This whole "it has to change if it's going to keep being relevant!" argument doesn't take into account that the fundamental assumption of "we need to have more of it" is not a given.

I'm going to see Solo on Thursday. I expect it will be a pleasant enough diversion.

Pak-Man

Star Wars has a lot of untapped potential, so I'm happy to have more of it, and happy with the more of it I've been given.

I would LOVE to see Billy Dee Williams come back. I mean who's a better fleet commander than him? Also uhhh, I wouldn't mind seeing Boba Fett come back for Episode 9... along with maybe a few other old faces? Completely for dramatic purpose of course because part of me does think that a character in a movie should serve some dramatic purpose. otherwise they should be left out of the final product.

just showing climbing out of the salac pit would be worth it.

I really, really hope this is true and it's actually going to happen.
