Hi Everyone,

Steve from Sharecrow here.  As most of you know, Sharecrow is a free DVD player designed to play Rifftrax.  With Sharecrow you just assign your Rifftrack to the DVD and from that point on both play in sync -- even as you skip around the DVD.  Best of all, it doesn't record onto the DVD in any way.

We're currently testing new sync methods and are looking for volunteers!  To do so, download this .CROW file for "Top Gun".  The .CROW file is designed to make it easier to play Rifftrax, by eliminating the entire process of syncing.  We've done it all for you!  Simply open Sharecrow, then load the .CROW file.  Your Rifftrack will be automatically assigned to the proper place on the DVD.  That simple!

If you do, please email me with your feedback, including:

1.  Which version of the DVD are you using?
2.  Which region DVD are you using?
3.  Did the .Crow match up with Disembodio correctly?
4.  If not, how far out of sync was it?

Thanks!

If you don't mind my asking...

How did you come up with this crow?  Did you average out the crows that were sent to you, or were they pretty much all the same?  Or did you use some sort of Black Crow Timmy magic?

Conc

No magic.  I created the .CROW on my work computer, then tested it on my home computer.  It played the same on both, so I thought I'd let you guys try it out.

Cool.  I'll try it out this weekend.

I've pretty much got the hang of making my own .CROW files for the PAL versions (thanks to the guide posted on this forum), and consequently Sharecrow has become my first choice for playing Rifftrax. I don't know if the new sync method you're testing out will have any impact on the PAL releases, but if so I'd be happy to help out with the testing, if that's any use to you.

Cheers,

Cy.

There's not really anything "new", but we're finally putting our .CROW files online for Rifftrax users to try out.  We want to see how the .CROW files play on different people's computers.

In fact, can you send me your PAL .CROW for "Top Gun"?  I'll test it on my machine.  Hopefully the .CROW files will turn out to be region free.

Sure, no problem. I've just emailed it to you.

Cheers,

The crow works.  It was off about .5 seconds for a little bit in the middle, but it didn't effect the jokes much.  So if you haven't watched it yet feel free to use the crow.

some DVD players compensate for PAL. messy huh.
