A solution (if this is the problem) might be using DVD ripping software that can convert the movie into a format with stable time code in it. Then when making the rifftrax, you use the ripped version instead. Then there is no DVD wind-up wind-down or seek problems and time portions should always be consistant. This is all theory though, I'm not 100% whats going on, and changing the format when making the rifftrax might not fix the problem because everyone's DVD player is a little different anyways.

In another post I believe Conor talked about how their audio was locked to the video when recording the Rifftrax which would mean they aren't just watching the DVD on a stand alone player.

Correct - in order to ensure the best audio synch, we have to take more delicate measures when recording than just popping the dvd in having at it! Imagine the DVDs slowly burning apart as Mike and DisembAudio redo lines over and over again =P

This is an amazing idea, excellent work so far!

I think it'd be nice if someone (maybe Legend?  maybe fans?) would create a more accurate, intended-to-be-machine-readable version of the RiffTrax contents section of the readme, that also contained the time codes for the beginning of each chapter section.  Ideally, these should be included with the RiffTrax downloads themselves, or at least on an easy-to-find website somewhere...

when I get the time, I'll re-check how effective having the time given as a double instead of as seconds (i.e. 357.3333333) is in syncing the movie, but I'm pretty sure it'll still be randomly off anyways each time you go to that timeslot.

I am in the process of trying this program for myself-- and so far it's working fine.  Thanks for creating this program!  One wonder what other things can be added to this program....  Thanks again!

So awesome I had to refind it after deleting with all my other 'trax.   ;D

A request: Is there any chance you could make a "pause both" button available?

FBX

its already there - at the top menu next to MP3/Movie Controls. A user interface failure, I know :)

Note - I've found that if you leave a DVD player paused too long, it'll jitter when you play it again. The best way to deal with this is to: turn on Stutter detect after pausing the movie. Then, after pressing play, wait for all the jittering to go away, then disable stutter-detect. This worked perfectly when I tried it, but if you leave stutter-detect on, your movie will randomly desync at times when its not actually jittering.

Update: uploaded a new version... I guess you could call it 1.1.1.1 but I'm leaving it since I'm too busy now to make a proper verison. Basically its a quick fix to the program crashing when you load the star wars EP1 readme.

It could just be me, but I'm unable to download from that link. It's giving me a 403 - Forbidden message using both Firefox and IE, and right-click/save-as isn't working either. Any suggestions, or is this some sort of problem on my end?
...but what do I know?

Bump  just to make sure this gets seen.

Maybe make a sticky mods?
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.

I'll try something else for the download link.

edit: changed it to a filecloud upload. Should be a decent link from now on.

I bet there are some clever people out there who might be able to take this and run with it... it's such a great concept. Maybe with the release of Windows Media Player 11 there's more room for improvement? Or perhaps a whole new player like Power DVD is the answer... or some way to rip the contents of the DVD to a file for easier syncing (that sounds like a copyright infringement doesn't it?).

Just hate to see such a great project collect dust...

There are a couple of methods on how to re-author your DVD's with rifftrax audio, in the Tech support section:

The rifftrax player idea has been brought up several times to the RiffTrax crew, but it never seems to fly...

It's a huge leap from media publishing company to programming a media player. With this player and Sharecrow, wouldn't it be a lot of duplication anyway?

BEERxTaco

Ah, thank you for those links... I'm working my way through the forums and haven't made it there yet lol...
