Hmmm.

Millennium is a not that great big budget studio film by a former Oscar winning director based on a well regarded SF short story.

R.O.T.O.R is a no budget film made by no one of note.

Certainly one of the oddest double bills I've ever seen on disc.

Sure would be nice to get better quality video for the rifftrax....

It was upgraded but not to blu-ray levels... Also I would imagine there would have to be some editing involved to get the RiffTrax to sync.  Thrashalla had to edit the upgraded version (he chopped the movie so there wouldn't be dead pockets).

The main problem with the upgrade was the choppiness, probably due to frame rate issues.

Action Batch

Got mine today. For some reason the movie is now titled "Blue Steel" even though the package still says R.O.T.O.R. The film looks great though, they even fixed the frame rate issue.

How is the syncing going?

It has the extra scenes not in the Rifftrax, so if you follow the guide I made all you need to do is change tempo in Audacity to +0.100 and it fits perfectly.

Easy peasy.

I just sunk up the VOD audio to the Blu Ray picture, using Action Batch's extremely helpful guide as a starting place!  The BD picture is incredible, and it's great to see the movie this way.

I'm a professional TV editor, and I do all my resync work in Final Cut Pro... I converted the picture on both the VOD release and the Blu Ray to FCP friendly files so I could scan through and see the visual changes as a clue to where the audio needed to be adjusted.  The VOD cut of the movie is weird, and the speed changes are inconsistent, as Action Batch said, and so there were a lot of subtle adjustments that needed to be made on top of the "big" moves.

I spot checked through the movie, and every once in a while found that I had to adjust the speed to get the RiffTrax audio to match the Blu Ray in the correct place.  Easy enough.

When I was done, I output a new audio file that matched the Blu Ray picture, and muxed it to my MKV rip, using MKVToolNix.

It would have been a whole lot easier to do all this if RiffTrax still provided the "Just The Jokes" tracks for their VOD releases!  If they did so, I would happily cut the track to match the Blu Ray, and then send an adjusted "Just The Jokes" track back to them! (Hint, hint...)

I'd kill to have a Just The Jokes track for SUPER MARIO BROS as well... the Region B Blu Ray has a beautiful 5.1 mix on it that is far superior to the audio on the VOD, and I'd love to insert their commentary into it.  PLEASE START DOING THIS, RIFFTRAX!
