Receiver Wes Welker expected to sign with Rams after workout

Wes Welker reportedly worked out with the Rams.

Wes Welker has not played a snap in the NFL this season, but the veteran wide receiver has no interest in retiring. He worked out with another NFL team on Monday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Welker worked out Monday with the St. Louis Rams, and FOX Sports NFL insider Mike Garafolo confirmed that the sides are hammering out a deal. Over the weekend, Welker spoke to Rapoport about how "frustrating" it is that he has not signed with a team in 2015.

"The frustrating part sometimes is you look out there on the field and you see guys who are playing, and you're like, 'I should be playing,'" he said. "That gets me a little bit. I love being at home with my kids, but at the same time, you have that itch and you're looking out there and seeing how you can fit in with this team or that and there's never really a perfect plan."

The problem with Welker is health, as he suffered several concussions toward the end of his time with the Denver Broncos. You have to wonder if he is better off not playing.

Darn, Jordan Hicks, the rookie that ran that interception in for a TD last night is out for the season, torn pectoral.

New Orleans Saints fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan

FOX Sports
Nov 16, 2015 at 10:45a ET

Another New Orleans defensive debacle has spelled the end of Rob Ryan's days as the unit's coordinator.

Multiple sources told FOXSports.com that Ryan is being removed from the position following Sunday's 47-14 loss at Washington.

The Redskins generated 526 yards of offense with Kirk Cousins posting a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3 while throwing for 324 yards and four touchdowns. The Saints also surrendered 225 rushing yards, led by Alfred Morris, who gained 104 on just 15 carries.

New Orleans ranks last in the NFL in yards allowed (424.7), points allowed (31.5) and passing touchdowns allowed (28).

Ryan, 52, was hired as Saints defensive coordinator in 2013 following a two-year stint in the same position with Dallas. New Orleans enjoyed initial success with Ryan in his first season but badly slumped in 2014.

Despite the decline, the Saints retained Ryan but also hired former coordinator Dennis Allen as a senior defensive assistant in the offseason.

Allen is a likely candidate to replace Ryan but the new coordinator's identity wasn't immediately known.

The Saints (4-6) have a bye this weekend before their next game Nov. 29 at Houston.
