What's up? Glad to find this community!

Long-time fan of MST3K here, first heard of RiffTrax back when I was a young rebel surfing YouTube late at night.

Currently interested in creating my own jokes for an iRiff for Fifty Shades of Grey, so I have a few questions about that.

Do I need to sign up for it or something?

People have told me before that I'm funny, although I'm new to this kind of project.

I'm thinking that I could post a video or two of my progress for riffing Fifty Shades on YouTube and subsequently learn how I can improve my comedic skills.

It's a fun thing to do (I never did an iRiff, but I did three fan riffings, only one full length).

My suggestion is find someone of like minds to work with, or at least review your solo work.  I'm sure you can do fine on your own (well, I don't but I just want to be nice).  I did it with a friend and though disagreed on a few things, it helped us in having similar yet different humour sensibilities (we both liked the same thing, but he was more likely to go vulgar when I saved that for special occassions).  This person can be a good sounding board and it helps see whether the stuff in your head translates out of it.

He or she doesn't need to have the exact same tastes as you, but as long as you respect his tastes it can help a lot.  I know I'm not answering the question you asked, but I hope it is helpful advice.

You might consider posting in the iRiff section of the forum. That's where they hang out.

Thanks, Miku.

Thanks for the advice, Unusual. Yes, I already have a friend in mind, and we should be able to work together this weekend.

I already have a few pages of joke ideas here and there, and I thought of another one today.

It's fun; it's like a comedic puzzle where joke after joke is revealed until I have a tapestry of wit, irony, and smart-assery. >:D

Welcome!

Right now the iRiffs section isn't fully up and running. The existing stuff is for sale, but its being rebuilt and overhauled so we can't put up new stuff quite yet. Once it is back fully, you will need to sign up for it and fill out a tax form to send Rifftrax.

Well, that kind of sucks. :-\

Honestly, that kind of makes me want to start my own brand.

It's nothing against RiffTrax.

I'm just thinking, if I'm going to do my own version of this thing, why not start something totally new so me / my buddies can get all the credit?

There are a few riffers doing that now, whether they started on iRiffs or not. Personally I'm using gumroad.com to sell my riffs, though once iRiffs is back up I do plan to put everything there too because it's great exposure with a built-in audience. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Awesome. How do I find your stuff on there?

Wow, a month late to respond to this, that's just bad marketing.
