I ain't giving it any money.

It's not like this is Michael Bay. This is Fox and Josh Trank, neither of them have earned boycott status in my opinion.

Plus, if it still bothers you, buy a ticket for M:I-5 or The Gift then sneak in to Fantfourstic.

Is there more than one media company called Fox? Because the one I know about is pretty shit.

That's a fair point.  I do think you need to separate 20th Century Fox from Fox News and Fox Broadcasting.  Even their TV stations seem like completely different entities (Fox vs FX).

If you did decide to boycott everything Fox, it would include Star Wars, Archer, Futurama, It's Always Sunny, a number of Wes Anderson movies, Planet of the Apes, The Martian, One Hour Photo, and a lot of great Fox Searchlight movies.

I don't know why you are trying to convince me to give money to a movie almost nobody likes, that was made by a very wrong-headed studio in a particularly wrong-headed-studio-executive way?

We should support those good things that you mentioned that they do right (by being hands off and giving creators the ability to make good things) and not this bullshit.

Am I the only one that didn't think that Chronicle was an amazing achievement?

Josh Trank goes on to create Fantfourstic and fails.  Max Landis goes on to write American Ultra and fails. Dane Dehaan goes on to work in Amazing Spiderman 2 and fails.

Based just on Chronicle, these guys got all sort of work, then didn't deliver, but then everyone is surprised.

All I can do is shrug my shoulders and say "Oh well".  :P

I just bring it up because I saw American Ultra today.  That movie was alright, but forgettable.  The writing was awful.  The characters could barely be called characters. There were tons of jokes that just fell flat.  Then I saw Max Landis commenting on it:

Quote"Am I wrong? Is trying to make original movies in a big way just not a valid career path anymore for anyone but Tarantino and Nolan? That's the question: Am I wrong? Are original ideas over? I wanted to pose this to the public, because I feel, put lightly, confused. Now, I'm not so sure," he continued. "Got to get back to work on my TV shows. Which are both adaptations."

He's blaming his failure on some trend or some backlash that's out of his control, and not even considering that maybe he's not original or just not great at his job.

I don't think his version of the FF script would have made a better movie.

And by the way, he made this:

Which is neither original (stealing heavily from Drunk History) nor funny.

I thought Chronicle was good enough and showed potential. Not a movie I'd buy or care if I ever saw again.

Max Landis is a complete knob.
