ok im out voted lol

it IS mst3k 2.o

but its format is different is/was my point  as such you have to accept that they arent doing merely bad movies.  there is no criteria for a movie to get riffed other than mike thinks he can make it funny (or in the case of willy wonka, the guest riffing with mike thinks he can make it funny)

  Well said.

I don't think the Rifftrax crew pick a movie at random and riff it, nor do they always consult their voting polls. I think some research goes into it and I think they riff movies they can get good material out of. So this could be any movie, potentially. Not just bad ones. And, once more, if they do a movie you don't want riffed, don't buy the track.

The thing I am finding interesting with some of their choices is, how they find the faults with so called "good" movies. And with movies like The Matrix and Casino Royale that get put up high on a pedestal...that really aren't that perfect. Mike and guest seem to do a good job of bringing things back down to earth.

Its like they are saying to the movie: "c'mon, you actually did 'that' and you expect us to buy it?"

Fuzzy Necromancer

In terms of bad Bond movies, I'd have to say Tomorrow Never Dies wins for "Most ridiculous premise", closely followed by Goldfinger, if only because it would allow any number of "gold bond" jokes.

Appearently a lot of people did. In fact, more people bought into this Bond movie then any other James Bond film in history, and it's the most well received Bond film since the early Connery films. When it came to those "you actually did 'that' and expect us to buy it?" moments, people didn't care. I personally think that chase scene was the best action scene in the film despite the fact no living man can remain in one piece from falling several feet off of cranes. It's fin to make note of it but not in a way that's supposed to make the film seem like a bad idea.

Geez, I'm really on the defense on this one. I guess I can't help it. I guess it all boils down to the fact that just because a movie is on the top best selling list on Amazon.com doesn't make it a good canidate for a Rifftrack. All the new customers will think that Mike and Kevin are out to say this film is flawed beyond reasoning and that it should be made fun of instead of enjoyed for what it is. Just look at the dexcription.

"A spine-tingling thrill ride that moves from the exotic poker tables of Montenegro, to the exotic hotel rooms of Montenegro, then back to the poker tables, then the rooms again, then a return visit to the poker table for a more extended stay, then a short rest and back to the poker table!"

For me, that's oversimplifying the whole premise. There's more that's going on during the whole Montenegro poker game the just moving from place to place. It's like whoever wrote the description didn't even try to watch the film.

Unfortunately I'm gona be buying this track because I want to support RiffTrax all the way. I just hope they choose better titles to riff on then ones who are highly reviewed and appreciated. Riffing Casion Royale just doesn't make sense to me.

Its amazing to see what zombies we've turned into thanks to Hollywood pushing us to like what they say we like.

Don't get me wrong, I liked this Bond movie too. But its still nice to watch it from a different perspective and to have fun with it too.

i just got to disagree, yes it thats an over simplification of the plot, but its still kinda accurate and even more important its actually funny.

Actually, the stuntmen in that scene did all the crap you see, with wires set to catch them if they missed.  I keep trying to say this, but nobody believes me.  The chase scene at the beginning of the film is not fake.  The only special effects were used to remove the emergency safety harnesses from the shot.  Those guys actually did all the stuff you see.

The way it happened is that the guy who played the bomber is actually a world class athlete who helped invent the sport of 'freerunning.'  He does this stuff for fun...without the safety gear.  Now, I'll give you that only people on the level of world class athletes could pull that stuff off, but it is possible.  In fact, go do a search for 'freerunning' on youtube, and you can find a bunch of videos of U.S. gymansts and runners leaping around skyscrapers like Spiderman.

Nunyerbiz

I pretty much bought everything but the 30 ft drop from the crane to the roof. I can't imagine that was done without some kind of digitally removed pad or something...

Douglin

The crane jumps are "fake".

1-They cut away before the guy lands the second jump-why would they do this except to hide the fact that he landed in a big mattress?  and when he does land it's obviously with a lot less momentum than he should have.

2-If they did have wires holding him how did he manage to get through the middle of the second crane? all the cable would have gotten snagged.

What they probably did is have the two crane-tops in a studio some where(or at least much closer to the ground), and the floor covered with mattresses.  They had the cranes closer together and the guy did the jumps, then in post productuion, they put the cranes 60 feet in the air and used cg to make the gaps between them bigger.

So despite everything in Moonraker, we're picking apart the physics of jumping off cranes and such in THIS Bond movie. I love it.  :)

Nunyerbiz

Hah... I'm not hardly trying to pick apart any physics. It's just that when somebody says that, except for some safety wires, the 30ft plummet was "real"... I gotta disagree with that. Not even PF Fliers would keep you from... well, you know the rest.

Actually, I agree with you. I'm sure behind the scenes material on the dvd backs you up. There was probably all kinds of wires, matresses, some digital tweaking, ect.. Stunts, although still dangerous, are made to be as "safe" as possible.

sarcasm_made_Easy

although im sure most the crane stuff was saftey rope and what not, most of the parkour stuff i had seen done before, include a 30 foot drop.

RobtheBarbarian

Well, at least we know this scene isn't too far-fetched. Drywall is pretty brittle.

Although...

That semi-rediculous stunt, that camera angle... almost Battlefield: Earth-ian?
