worst sequel ever

There are plenty of good movies that never ever needed a sequel.

Case in point:
Cube 2: Hypercube - an overly-technical version of the original movie
Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco - like the critters would be dumb enough to get lost a second time
all of the straight-to-video versions of classic Disney movies

What's on your list of avoid-it-like-the-plague sequels?

This thread inspired by the week where every movie that was showing at the theatre I worked at was a *shudder* crappy sequel
there, there my dear. Few corpses are worth tears.

Matrix Reloaded - causality, blah blah blah...

GOOD TOPIC!

I have a long list, but at the top is:
The Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

Rude

...

The Empire Strikes Back... i mean, why ruin a great stand alone film by pretending it was conceived as part of a trilogy. < I'm kidding! I'm kidding! >
Seriously though, i'd pick The Godfather II...  :D

For real serious: The Matrix Reloaded is high up on the list~

I liked The Matrix too much to ever see the sequels.

I've always wondered why they did Home Alone 2. And then 3. With a -different- kid. But Home Alone 2....Is he even home? Isn't the kid lost in New York or something?

J-Proof

Godfather 2 is awesome!!! But let's see -- in my list:

Zenon the Zequel
The Danny Phantom Movies
Lilo and Stitch Sequels
J to the Pizzo
P to the Jizzay...

Bob

Highlander 2.    It totally ignores almost EVERYTHING about the first movie, and just to confirm my vote, Highlander 3 picks up after Highlander 1 like Highlander 2 never even happened.

Oh No You Didn't!!!

I...like Highlander 2, it's fun.  It doesn't ignore anything from the first film, does it? it just answers questions raised in the 1st film....the answers are super dumb but whatever  :P.  Pretty much every Highlander thing ignores everything but the original movie.

But I couldn't care less about the rest of highlander(the original movie, the 3 other sequels, 2 tv shows, cartoon and anime movie....ahh highlander, the un-killable franchise)

Also I like Tremors 2 so nobody say that either....but I didn't like tremors 3 & 4 and the Tv show.

Anyway:
Rocky V
Blade 3
I never really liked Superman 2, but I haven't seen the Donner re-cut yet.
also The Chronicles of Riddick (if that counts as a sequel)

If you get a chance, see The Animatrix. It's much better than either of the sequels.

DeviledMan

Batman & Robin.  Why o why have no Batman movies made it to the Riff list yet?

I never like Gremlins 2 as much as some people.

The Matrix Revolutions just pissed me off because of the godawful, agonizingly long battle scene with the sentinels.

any of the Jaws sequels

any of the Rocky Sequels (especially V)

Hi-Keeba!

Cibernético II

I disagree, I loved Gremlins 2. It was my favorite movie for years

xXx: State of the Union. Ice Cube the pint-sized, chubby action star? no way
(I actually kinda liked the first one)

Shanghai Knights: pointless and stale

Chronicals of Riddick: so very dumb

The Scorpion King: cliched and having absolutely nothing to do with ancient Egypt

Dumb and Dumberer: it fails at the very title

Jason X
I really do like pie.

Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo

But actually, I would probably say all of the direct-to-video sequels that Disney always makes.  They make so many terrible sequels to their own Disney classics that they ruin the originals.
