Woooo!

Nominees:

OK, I've got a list of 28 movies to watch in the next month! Eep! That used to be easier before the baby came along.

The only ones I've seen from the non-technical awards are Boyhood and Grand Budapest Hotel.

The best picture nominees look like a bunch of super depressing movies ...plus a Wes Anderson one, either way I'm not in a rush to see any of them

"A thing I like that there was no chance would ever continue until recently is now continuing but it doesn't meet my exact personal specifications so fuck this"

- how I read any complaint about MST3k (or Star Wars or Ghostbusters)

Boyhood is the opposite of super depressing.

I haven't seen the others yet.

Does Boyhood have a plot?

... yessssss...

Look, it's loose, but I'd call it a plot.

The film is pretty incredible.

Agree 100% with James Gunn's comments on Lego Movie being snubbed for best movie and best animated

Link? Or quote?

I'm glad that some of the smaller animated films that don't normally get a look-in did! But you already know how I feel about The Lego Movie ;P

1) The LEGO Movie was flat out snubbed. It was one of the best films of the year, not to mention one of the best animated films. It deserved to be nominated for Best Animated Film. Considering the average Academy voter is 63, perhaps the Tinkertoy Movie or the Erector Set Film would have fared better. Honestly, I don't think there can be any reason it wasn't nominated other than Academy members assumed it was a silly movie (like I did when I first heard of the movie, before seeing it) and didn't watch the screener.

Some people are speculating it was because it is a brand movie, but I don't know how far you can go with that argument when you consistantly nominate Disney films :P

I love that there are three 'traditionally' animated films this year too.

I can't wait to see them all! It's a rare year where I haven't seen any of the animated nominees yet!

@scharpling

The people complaining that THE LEGO MOVIE didn't get an nomination are the same people who complained that there was gonna be a Lego movie.

Kete

Out of all the Best Picture, Acting, and Screenplay movies, I've seen all but Still Alice, Inherent Vice, Mr Turner, and Two Days One Night.

I'd say, overall, a batch of really good movies. Didn't much care for American Sniper or Theory of Everything,  but enjoyed all the rest.

Those are the two I predict I won't like too.
