Walking Tall 2! Now with less of The Rock, more Hercules!

You all remember Walking Tall? Movie starring former wrestler and eyebrow waggler The Rock as a guy who comes home, picks up a big stick and beats the crap out of several guys and a drug-dealing casino owner, with Johnny Knowville providing unfunny humour?

Well, someone apparently watched that film a lot, because now there's a sequel, starring none other than Hercules himself, Kevin Sorbo.

The fact that one of the dumbest action films ever made got a sequel is staggering enough. But when I read the back of the DVD case... it outlined THE EXACT SAME PLOT as the original movie! Creative Bankuptcy at work.

Anyone out there feeling brave enough to actually watch this?

I thought the first one was fun but I've clearly seen more action movies than you.

I quite liked the remake as well, though I think The Rock is pretty awesome in almost anything.  The fact that it's exactly the same plot doesn't surprise me - the film is aimed directly at the people who liked (and bought) the first one, and what better way to appeal to them than redoing the film?

I'd like it if they continued to do sequels/remakes but with ever decreasing caliber of stars, maybe Steven Segal next time?

Hm...Is Segal a step down from Sorbo? I know Sorbo's a better actor, but I'm not sure he's as "big" as Segal.  And I don't mean in the fat sense.  :)

Sorbo was last on the OC, so I'd say he probably has less name recognition but is probably bigger.

Lorenzo Lamos then?

I just realized I've essentially described the Crow 'franchise'

I didn't regret watching Road House 2: Last Call and I don't think I'll regret watching this one. How often do "beat a bunch of people with a baseball bat" movies come around? I'll tell ya how often... not often enough.

But that implies that Joe Don Baker was a bigger star than The Rock.

Rattrap007

Oh yeah Joe Don Baker was in the original... then became a fat beer swilling slob (big stretch there) of a cop in Mitchell..

making a sequel to remake, shame on hollywood

making a sequel to remake without the cast of either pervious movies, shame on humanity
I really do like pie.

I don't know. Seems more like a tradition to me. The original Walking Tall had two sequels and a TV show--none of which starred Joe Don Baker.
