Question for the various theater employees of this board.   Do the various posters, standees and other promotional goodies always end up traveling with the prints or do you guys have access to these?   I ask since Grindhouse had such an amazing floor display that sat in our local theater for at least a month before the movie arrived.
If you do get a chance to take any of these home, what's your favorite piece you've personally taken?
I worked at an independent theatre when I was 15 or so and we always got promo goodies a good month or two before the movies were released...and no, never got to take anything home...that they know of ;)
there, there my dear. Few corpses are worth tears.

Good point Isaac -- I really like seeing movies opening weekend (I dunno why =P ) and because this one happened to fall on Easter Weekend, I /still/ haven't had a chance to go check it out ;)

Better hurry! It will be gone soon.

My cinema received a memo yesterday saying they're splitting the movie into two parts and releasing them seperately - and later in the year!!

Finally saw it last night. Probably the most fun I've ever had in a movie theater (except that one time with Alanis Morisette).

Yes, please... i don't understand the grindhouse concept and would like to pay to see each half of the film seperately.
Take my money and feed me a more commercially acceptable product.  :P

PS- Actually, these films are already being released seperately everywhere else in the world anyway... so, whatever. I got to see it, i'm happy~

Was anyone else disappointed by this movie? The first half was okay but they pushed too hard with the cheesiness. The fake previews all sucked (and that was what I was looking forward to!) by the time it got to QT's movie, I was exhausted. I thought his dragged terribly. His usual "cool dialogue" just felt forced and jilted. I sat through the 4+ hourse, but no one else in the theater did. Most people left at the halfway mark. I envied them.

4 hours?? Which version did you see.  Tarantino's dragged for me in the bar scenes. Once the killing started I ejoyed the rest of it. On my second viewing the diner scene didn't bother me as much. All the car action was fun for me. I loved the fake trailers.

Also, knowing that the car chases were filmed in real time, with no film speed tinkering, made them that much more exciting.

I thought it was great, and splitting it up is just wrong.

Now, if I could just figure out a way to marry Zoe Bell, but still be able to occasionally sleep with Rose McGowan...

(From the opening host segment of "Hobgoblins")  THERE!  You did TOO mean to turn me on that time!

LOL!!!  Beenie, even though Rose McGowan used to date Marylin Manson?

This isn't Europe, man. We have soap and water, and we're not afraid to use them.  :)

...

Death Proof didn't really drag so much for me... rather, it felt like the film completely started over again in the middle. Which was kinda' weird. Plus i'm no longer enjoying the fact that Tarrantino passes off a string of pop-culture references as dialogue. He kinda' abandoned any subtlety, and instead bangs us over the head with his influences. There were also quite a few times that i felt like i was being preached to, almost like i was being told "If you want to be cool, you should see this movie or listen to this band."

Anyway, when it comes to this particular film the only real problem i had was that Stuntman Mike acts completely out of character at the end of the film. I mean...

So after all that... i actually really liked the movie. It was a lot of fun to see it in the theater, and i'm looking forward to owning it on DVD!
Go figure~

End Of Rant.

See, I disagree. I though that bit was absolutely perfect. If you read a bit about that kind of personality, the notion that seems completely in character. And remember, this is a female revenge fantasy; the idea of doesn't really play into that fantasy.
