"Game of Thrones" - HBO Series Coming in 2011

I have heard that theory. There are crazier theories out and it is fun to entertain the idea. I love the sheer amount of content people have to work with to come up with their theories. Pages and pages of dialogue that could be foreshadowing what they are talking about. There are lots of really cool interpretations at the Westeros forums. There is also another where Tyrion is a secret Targaryen and will be one of the three heads of the dragon. I want this to be true even though this is the most unlikely thing ever.

We know Dany is a Targaryen -- my favorite theory is that Jon is one by Rhaegar & Lyanna Stark, and Tyrion is one by Aerys & Joanna, making up the three heads of the dragon. It seems plausible to me. We already know Young Griff is a fake, there's no way he would be the third head. Who else would be likely?

An interesting thing about the theory that Dany, Jon and Tyrion are the three heads of the dragon is that all three of their mothers died giving birth to them, assuming R+L=J is true. At least, everything we've seen thus far about Lyanna seems to indicate she died giving birth.  We know for a fact that Tyrion and Dany's mothers died in labor.  I don't know if it means anything, but it's an interesting coincidence if nothing else.

Also, how do we know that Young Griff is fake?  He probably is but I don't remember it being confirmed by anything.

It hasn't been confirmed that young Griff is a fake, and Im's 500 page red herring theory sounds right. I am just going on what I've seen around and what I think is probably true --

Griff might be something, but the third head of the dragon he is not (I don't think GRRM writes him as lovingly as he's written Dany, Jon and Tyrion) and possibly not even actually a Targaryen. Maybe a Blackfyre at best, I think.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for it to be true. I just don't want to get caught up in expectation. Fingers crossed, though. There is all that talk about Tyrion as a child reading about the dragons and imagining he was flying on one to support it, and the Targaryen through Aerys theory supports this, but it just seems to good to be true. Tyrion just seems so much like Tywin. Though, if that is nature or nurture, I can't be certain. GRRM tends to hint at fan service and then point out that no one gets what they want. Griff is totally a Blackfyre. I'm basing this belief on the whole "mummer's dragon" foreshadowing.

The Tyrion theory just comes off as weak.  More wish fullfilment by fans than.  Fans think Bran is going to eventually going to warg into a Dragon, but we know he's not a Targaryan. 

I think there is more to the theory that Dario is Euron, or that the new Septon in King's Landing is Howland Reed, than to Tyrion being a Targaryan.

As for Jon
It all makes sense.  While reading the book about family lineage in book 1, and discovering that Joffrey and the others are in fact bastards, his thoughts drift to Jon, Lyanna, and Rhaegar, as well as the promise he made to Lyanna.  Melisandre took an instant liking to Jon, almost as if she realized she had been backing the wrong king all this time.  Also, Rhaegar was the only one really obsessed with the prophecy.  I have no doubt he and Lyanna were married, and that Jon is legitimate.  Though, the only way it will probably be proven is if he wargs into one of the Dragons.  The only person who can confirm it is Howland Reed, and even if he were to come forward, I doubt the head of a lesser house would hold much sway.

Also, if it's true, then the series is named after Jon, as the song of ice and fire, or the son of wolves and dragons.

Well if that's true

then Jon needs to step up his game and get more interesting pretty soon. I respect that GRRM uses unusual characters to be the heroes of his stories, but Jon, despite having an interesting backstory (assuming the theory about Lyanna and Rhaegar are right) doesn't have much of a personality.

He was too busy in Oldtown to be teaching Arya, though who knows if that'll even be included in the show.
