Former Giant Tyler Sash arrested
Updated: May 14, 2014, 10:55 AM ET
ESPN.com

Former New York Giants safety Tyler Sash was arrested early Saturday morning in Iowa after leading police on a drunken scooter chase and being shot with a Taser.

Tyler Sash, who played for the Giants in 2011 and 2012, was arrested for public intoxication after leading police on a scooter chase.

Sash, who played two seasons with the Giants, was charged with public intoxication and interference with official acts by police in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

According to multiple reports, police spotted Sash at approximately 1:30 a.m. riding a motorized scooter with its lights off and asked him to stop.

Sash, however, reportedly refused on multiple occasions, leading police on a four-block chase before leaving the scooter and fleeing on foot.

Police eventually found Sash hiding behind a tree and, after the 25-year-old refused to come out, shot him with a Taser.

Sash declined a field sobriety test but admitted to drinking and was taken to Mahaska County Jail.

A sixth-round draft pick in 2011 who played in college at Iowa, Sash appeared in 23 games with the Giants. He was suspended in 2012 for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances and was cut by the Giants prior to last season.

Terrell Owens -- I've Got No Employable Skills ... Besides My Athletic Ability

5/14/2014 12:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF EXCLUSIVE

Hi,  I'm Terrell Owens.

I'm 40. I'm broke. And I've got ZERO employable skills ... outside of my athletic talents.

Please don't make me pay my estranged wife's attorney's fees in our divorce.

Thanks,

T.O.

That's essentially the message T.O. sent a judge in new legal docs ... in which he explains why he shouldn't have to pony up for Rachel Snider's legal fees.

In the docs, T.O. says his marriage to Snider was only for 3 days .. yet she hired a fancy lawyer who charges through the nose -- and he simply can't afford to pay ... now or ever.

In fact, Owens explains, "Besides my athletic abilities, I do not have any special skill set or education that makes me employable. I use my celebrity status as a former NFL player as much as possible as I struggle to earn a living to support my children."

Owens says Snider isn't just trying to hurt his wallet -- she's also dead set on destroying his image in the media.

The couple was married on January 23rd ... and separated on January 26th.  And since then, they've been at war for 105 days and counting.

Hernandez indicted in double murder
Updated: May 15, 2014, 11:06 AM ET
ESPN.com

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been indicted in the 2012 killings of two men in Boston.

Boston police spokeswoman Neva Coakley confirmed the indictment Thursday. Hernandez is already being held without bail after pleading not guilty to murder in the unrelated death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd last year.

In the 2012 case, victims Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado were shot as they sat in a car in Boston's South End on July 16. Police have said they were shot by someone who drove up alongside in an SUV and opened fire. Boston police have written in an affidavit there is probable cause to believe Hernandez was driving a vehicle used in the shooting and "may have been the shooter.'

Massachusetts law enforcement officials will hold an 11:30 a.m. news conference to discuss details of their investigation into the deaths of Abreu and Furtado.
Hernandez has been charged with first-degree murder in the June 2013 shooting death of Lloyd, a Boston resident who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins. It had been widely reported that Lloyd might have had knowledge about the Boston slayings.

Greg Hardy released from jail
Updated: May 15, 2014, 9:01 AM ET
ESPN.com

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers star Greg Hardy was released from jail Wednesday following a domestic violence charge in a case in which both he and his girlfriend claim the other was the aggressor.

Mecklenburg County District Judge Rebecca Thorne Tin released Hardy on a bond set at $15,000 for assault and $2,000 for threats. She also ordered the Pro Bowl defensive end to have no contact with the woman, identified as 24-year-old Nicole Holder.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has released audio recordings of the 911 calls and radio dispatch concerning Panthers DE Greg Hardy's arrest.

Tin also ordered Hardy to attend three Alcoholics Anonymous classes a week, noting that both parties were intoxicated at the time of the incident, which occurred after 4 a.m. ET Tuesday.

Holder filed a restraining order against Hardy on Wednesday. In the complaint, she accused Hardy of throwing her onto a couch covered with "assault rifles and/or shotguns."

"Hardy picked me up and threw me into the tile tub area in his bathroom," the complaint read. "I have bruises from head to toe, including my head, neck, back, shoulders, arms, legs, elbow and feet. Hardy pulled me from the tub by my hair, screaming at me that he was going to kill me, break my arms and other threats that I completely believe.

"He drug me across the bathroom and out into the bedroom. Hardy choked me with both hands around my throat while I was lying on the floor. Hardy picked me up over his head and threw me onto a couch covered in assault rifles and/or shotguns. I landed on those weapons."

In the complaint, Holder alleges that Hardy had 25 to 30 firearms in his apartment and that "he threatened to shoot me if I went to the media or reported his assaults to anyone.''

Hardy appeared in the Charlotte Mecklenburg County courtroom wearing an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. He was released at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, wearing a black tank top, black Panthers sweatpants and dark sunglasses.

He made no comment, staring straight ahead as he made his way from the jail property to a car.

Greg Hardy's arrest on charges of domestic violence jeopardizes his long-term future with the Panthers, writes David Newton. Story

Hardy's attorney, Chris Fialko, said his client was not the aggressor. Fialko said Hardy called 911 at 4:14 a.m. after Holder refused to leave his apartment.

"We're trying to get her out of my house and she keeps running back in every time," Hardy told the 911 operator. "My neighbor is outside witnessed everything. ... My manager is trying to restrain her she's trying to break free tried to hit me with her heel ... I'm literally running around.

"I'm inside the my apartment trying to get out but she's blocking ... she's at the door and she won't leave we've been trying to leave for an hour. I've asked her to leave a thousand times and she's hit me in the face twice. I'm trying to walk around and I can't walk through my kitchen because there's glass ... she broke glass.

The 911 operator then asks, "Has there been any drug usage?"

"I think she's on coke," Hardy replies. "She's been drinking. I don't know what she's on man she's out of it and she will not stop coming at me."

Holder's attorney, Stephen Goodwin, acknowledged that Hardy made a 911 call but disputed that his client was the aggressor.

"My client was not the aggressor by a long shot," said Goodwin, noting his client weighs less than 120 pounds and that Hardy is 6-foot-4 and weighs 290 pounds. "It was very violent. A lot of picking up and throwing."

Goodwin said Holder went to an emergency room Tuesday to have her injuries checked out. He said her elbows are the most painful but noted there are also bruises and abrasions on her wrists, arms, back, neck and shoulders.

Holder said some of the abrasions occurred while she was "struggling on the floor."

According to the warrant, another man held Holder down while Hardy called 911. Tin identified the man as Sammy Curtis, who sat in the courtroom next to Hardy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Hardy

Neither had a comment leaving the courthouse. Goodwin left open the possibility that charges could be filed against Curtis, Hardy's good friend and business associate.

"I think additional information is coming out on him later today," Goodwin said.

Fialko said Holder attempted to contact Curtis multiple times on Tuesday evening while Hardy spent the night in jail. Goodwin confirmed that.

"She is very scared," he said. "The attempt at contact is what you would think [from] a very scared young lady. ... She didn't want to get hurt any further."

Asked if there was any prior evidence of physical violence between Hardy and Holder, Goodwin said, "I don't want to prejudice that information. The answer to that question will come out in court."

"She has never filed a complaint," Goodwin added. "She has never taken any action on that front, but that information will come out on that front."

Hardy's next court appearance is set for June 27.

Goodwin said Hardy and Holder met while Holder was working as a waitress at a downtown restaurant. He said the two have been in a relationship since September, that they lived together for a time but have not for the past couple of months.

While Hardy was in court, a group that included Charlotte Police Chief Rodney Monroe was at Bank of America Stadium for a previously scheduled meeting to discuss domestic violence.

The Panthers had no further comment on Hardy's situation Wednesday. On Tuesday, the team issued a statement that said: "We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate."

Hardy, also known by his alter ego "The Kraken," led the team in sacks this past season with 15. He was given the franchise tag during the offseason, guaranteeing him $13.1 million in 2014.

Carolina general manager Dave Gettleman has said repeatedly he hopes to sign the 2010 sixth-round pick to a long-term contract.
I dunno but for some reason this sounds like she might be a bit on the loony side :-\

Jim Kelly vows to beat cancer
Updated: May 15, 2014, 4:56 PM ET
Associated Press

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The recurrence of cancer isn't tempering Jim Kelly's resolve to keep the Bills in Buffalo.

Citing a family motto of "Staying Kelly tough," the Hall of Fame quarterback vowed Thursday he will beat cancer and preserve his former team's long-term future at the same time.

"(Kelly tough) means standing up and giving it your all no matter what comes your way, and sticking to your guns when it comes to what you believe in," Kelly said. "For me, it means staying tough to beat cancer. And I want everyone in Buffalo to join me in being Kelly tough to keep the Bills right where they belong: Here in western New York."

The statement was released through his company, Jim Kelly Inc., and comes at an uncertain time for both Kelly and the Bills.

Kelly has spent the past six weeks receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatments for sinus cancer.

"The cancer has been rough. It's hurt really bad," he said. "I'm not out of the woods by any means, but we think the treatments are going well, and I'm going to beat this!"

This is Kelly's second bout with cancer in less than a year. In June, he had surgery to remove cancerous cells from his upper jaw. A follow-up test in March revealed that the cancer had returned.

The diagnosis came shortly before Bills owner Ralph Wilson died, leading to questions about the franchise's future. The Bills will be put on the market and could be sold by as early as October.

A strict non-relocation clause essentially ties the Bills to playing at Ralph Wilson Stadium through the 2019 season. There remain concerns a new owner could relocate the team after that.

Kelly remains interested in joining a prospective ownership group.

Kelly's brother, Dan, said he's had several conversations with at least one candidate, New York City developer Donald Trump.

Beyond that, Jim Kelly urged fans show their support and convince prospective owners to keep the team in the region.

"The Buffalo Bills are a part of life here. They brought me to Buffalo and I love this community so much that I stayed here to raise my family," he said. "Now is the time. It's absolutely critical to come out and show your support for the team this season to show the new owners how crazy they'd be to take the team elsewhere."

Though valued at $870 million, the Bills' price tag is expected to be higher because it's rare for NFL franchise's to go on the market. There is also anticipated to be more than a few bidders, which has the potential of driving the price higher.

One of prospective ownership groups is expected to include Toronto-based businessmen Larry Tanenbaum, chairman of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, and Edward Rogers, deputy chairman of Rogers Communications. Their group is regarded by Buffalo-area leaders as one that would be interested in buying the team and moving it to Toronto.

Churchill Downs wants money back

Welker's Derby Day Windfall Questioned

Earlier this month, Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker was seen at the Kentucky Derby carrying a huge stack of cash after winning a bet, even handing out $100 bills to random people.

Now Churchill Downs, which puts on the event, says that money might not have been rightfully his.

"Welker You name the bet, I pretty much had it. I had a wad of tickets, and almost every single one won." -- Wes Welker

"An individual believed to be a member of Wes Welker's group on Kentucky Derby day was the beneficiary of an overpayment north of $14,000 on a wager due to a tote malfunction," Churchill Downs spokesman Darren Rogers said in a statement. "In turn, a letter has been sent to that individual in an attempt to resolve the error."

TMZ reported that Welker sent a friend to collect the winnings. Churchill Downs in turn paid out a total of $57,193.90 to that person, according to TMZ.

According to Kentucky administrative regulations, if there is an overpayment as a result of the calculation of a payout, the track is responsible and the patron holding the ticket does not have to refund the money. The regulations are not clear if their overpayment is the result of an error in the operation of the tote machine.

Welker, who owns race horses, told "The Dan Patrick Show" on Friday that he never calculated how much he and his friends were due and that Churchill Downs could have underpaid them and they wouldn't have known.

Welker and his friends made the bulk of their money by boxing Commanding Curve, a 37-1 long shot that finished second place in the Derby. A $2 exacta bet, for example, with winner California Chrome and Commanding Curve paid out $340 that day.

When pressed by Patrick to reveal how much he won, Welker hedged in his response.

"Enough," he said. "Enough to where my wife didn't hate me when I got home. Why do we have to go into numbers here? It was a good time."
