The Doug Benson Movie Interruption

So if you guys have an Alamo theater, you might have seen advertisements for The Doug Benson Movie Interruption. It's basically Doug Benson riffing Mrs Doubtfire as far as I can tell. And THAT seems like a blatant ripoff.

Has anyone else heard about this?

I've never been to one of Doug's Movie Interruptions, but from what I understand, they're unscripted and a lot less structured than RiffTrax; more of a casual comedians-hanging-out vibe.

Yeah, I haven't been to one yet, but I know he's had a few in Houston.  Been meaning to check one off.

Why would you consider it a blatent rip-off?  I've never heard him claim to have invented riffing or anything.

There are plenty of riffers out there now, some of them started from these forums!

I am not saying he said he invented riffing, but if people are going to a nice theater to pay money for riffing, I feel it should be for Mike and Co.


But I also don't like Doug Benson and I do like Mike, Bill, and Kevin. More work and money for them!

I've gone to a nice theater to pay for "Master Pancake" riffing and it was awesome.  Doesn't take anything away from Rifftrax Live, I'll always go to that too.

Yeah, I think it's a bit ridiculous to say that only one group is allowed to do live theatre riffing.  After all, it's not like the success of another riffer hurts MKB in any way (it's not like they are done in competing time slots near each other).  The success of one does not do any harm to the other.  And there has been a lot of crossover riffers between the two, like Paul F Tompkins.  If anything it just spreads the love.
