Ha!  That's definitely true.  Why did they make them pink?

Well, in selecting a color for Snowballs, they had two descriptive nouns to work from.  Apparently, they decided against "snow."

For what it's worth, I once saw a similar product being called 'baseballs'  exactly the same concept, except for the red frosting used to simulate the 'stitching' on an actual baseball...
