My bf poured a glass of water on one of my computers.  right on the motherboard.  would it be safe to let it dry for a few days and then plug it in?

I think that would be the best course of action.  It would be safe (physically speaking to yourself), but it still may be fried.

Agreed. Was the computer on when he dumped the water?  If not there's a better chance it'll be ok. But I wouldn't bank on it regardless.

What interests me more is that this is your first post on these forums, and it's in a very obscure thread. Welcome!  People here are pretty friendly. Hope you enjoy your stay.

I would think Anything liquid spilled on a laptop might spell its doom :o

Sounds like it was a desktop. But yes, doom is definitely in the room.

Yeah I see that wasn't specified now :o

If it's a laptop pull the battery, and if you have access to the cmos battery pull that also (but they are often solder in.

If a desktop unplug everything from it and remove the button battery on the motherboard.

I'm guessing it's a laptop, how do you spill water on the MB of a desktop?  Unless it's one of those wide open gaming cases.

Plain water should evaporate in a few days, but anything else is tricky.  You can help it along with a hair dryer on low heat.  Pretty much all electronics are washed with deionized water after the parts are soldered on (One of my summer jobs ages ago was washing boards after they came out of the soldering machine, but that was back when they still used freon, they switched to water based stuff a few years later).
