A Sad Loss for Film Fans

Somehow I missed hearing about this until now, but director Bob Clark was killed early Wednesday morning by a drunk driver.

If you don't recognize Clark by name, he was an eclectic director who helmed three of my favorite pictures in three different genres: A Christmas Story, Porky's, and the original slasher flick, Black Christmas.

Later in his career, he also directed a number of truly awful films that should be familiar to the bad movie afficionados around these parts, including Turk 182!, Baby Geniuses, and Rhinestone(!).

Rest in peace, Bob.  You'll be missed.

I can't understand all the love for A Christmas Story...I mean, what's so funny about a bratty little kid who repeatedly whines because he doesn't get what he want, until he finally gets the damn B.B. gun? For that matter, I don't like Porky's either. It's just not very funny. I have never seen Clark's horror films. The only mainstream work of his that I did like, from what I've seen of his films, was Loose Cannons, which has always been one of my favorites.

I wonder too. He had a few things in the works.  Maybe Alan Ormsby will step into the director's chair for this one.

for some reason when i read 'Bob Clark' i thought to myself, 'Dick Clark' and an over whelming sense of joy came over me. then i clicked the link and saw bob it hit rock bottom... not only due to the fact that he's a great man, but the fact that we have to put up with more dick clark >:|
