Any chance that Trace, Joel, Mary Jo, Tv's Frank could riff?

Well, I would think it's cause they all have first-hand experience, and are very good comedic talent, which is why Jim Mallon and Joel brought them into the Best Brains team to begin with.  While Mike came up with the best lines as a writer, the whole process involved everyone, and every one of them came up with excellent material, drawing on references to pop culture, current trends and even literary references.  Riffing a movie, even a bad one isn't easy when it's "on the fly", so to make it easier, every joke has to be timed precisely.  I've done "live riffs" with friends, and it's hard coming up with real zingers at a second's notice.  Especially when you've never seen the film before, or it's so awful you can't figure out what's happening.

Hell, Zardoz almost crippled my brain when I tried to riff on it.  To this day, I get a dull throbbing ache in my head when I think about Zardoz.  I also cringe when I envision Sean Connery in the orange diaper.  *shudders in fear*  Find a happy place....  find a happy place....

Exactly, point being I'm sure some other people in the world that he knows that are also funny but we'd never know it.  They may not have first hand experience but neither did anyone else at first.

Does Mike write all the riffs by himself? If he does, I feel sorry for him.  Poor kid.  I imagined there were a few people at least helping with the writing.
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

It would be amazing if Trace or Frank decided to sign on for one or two. Frank is hilarious, and Trace is just amazing.
"If you can see a character's eyeboogers, you're too close!"

"I accidently put a sign on myself that read, 'Slave for sale'."

I'd like to see more of other comedians helping out, to be honest. I'm sure we've all heard a few funny "proper" commentaries on DVDs by comedians or just funny people, and there must be some of them who were fans of Mike's from MST3K and would be willing to guest on an episode. But saying that, I know Mary Jo's boyfriend posts on the MST3K boards and there's a thread where you can ask him questions to pass on to her- she may well be up for it, I've no idea.

I've always wondered whether other comedians would want to do the riffing style. Certainly the Sklar bros. did it pretty well (imo) on Cheap Seats. I love the MST guys but it would be cool to see someone like Jim Gaffigan or the Sklars sit in for a Rifftrax.

Whatever the case, keep up the good work Mike and Co.!!!!

It would be great to get the Sklar brothers involved on a Rifftrax, since the guys did a MST3K bit on Cheap Seats I'd imagine it would be possible.

That show was great, I'd love to hear them take on a movie though.

That wouldn't be half bad...  Bring in the Sklar brothers for a showing of "Ice Castles".

My vote (if there is one) goes to having Trace Beaulieu do a guest spot with Mike and Kevin.

Over the course of MST3K, it seemed to me that Trace had the most acerbic comments, and those made me laugh out loud the most.  When he left the show, those biting comments left, too.

A case in point (well, perhaps a "muddled memory"):  "Kenny" (a.k.a. kid in a Gamera movie) disobeys his parents.  Father voice (Trace) to the Mother:  "Hit him!  Hit him now!"  Those kinds of cracks in MST3K made me laugh, and those kinds of cracks left the show when Trace did.  (No, I'm not "pro child-abuse.")

I'm sure I could recall dozens of excellent examples of Trace's writing and voicing if I re-watched my dozens of MST3K tapes.

So that's why I vote for Trace doing a guest spot on RiffTrax.
