So, what hungry things did we learn?

Besides that apparently Mike and Kevin were never taught in school that it is proper English to compress two definite articles into one when one of them is the title of something? ;)

I haven't ordered anything here since whenever the last mp3 riff was released (Feb?) so the first thing I learned was that this new credit card interface is AWESOME.  The whole checkout system is SO much better.  So bravo for that!  Vast improvement!

I learned that "cake frosting" can make something look like anything, including making a person blend seamlessly with a rocky river bed.  I also learned that it's readily available in the forest.

I learned that the fashions of the future would make even Lady Gaga go "WTF?!"

I learned that Donald Sutherland will pretty much do anything for a paycheck.

I learned that Mike and the Guys aren't Lenny Kravitz fans.

I learned that a society with super technology that rivals anything we have today still relies on coal hand-mined by people and would become powerless without it.

And that rifftrax is worth the wait. Haven't bought anything since the last mp3 (as others posted) and they are still good. Please do Dark Knight Rises :)

Trekker4747

I suspect Dark Knight Rises is a given considering now not only do we have the Bale Bat-Voice for them to make fun of but now Tom H-ADR-y Bane Voice to make fun of.

The society relying on coal made little sense to me too but one could argue there's still "some" use for it in their society somewhere. It may not be the only source of power they have, heck they may not even use it FOR power.  I mean they've got to make all of that awful makeup out of something!

I learned that even though you're poor, barely eating, and catatonic and useless to the point your teenage daughter provides you with food you can still have a wicked, high-def projection TV and in your shack.

And I learned that even though you're a starving teenage girl you're still going to be pretty fit and curvy.

I learned that in the future we lose to ability to not give our kids STUPID FUCKING NAMES.

Trekker4747

Well, it's not exactly an ability we have NOW.

As an aside, the knife throwing girl was a really good actress.  Besides Lawrence, she's the one who stood out to me.  A lot of the others were weak.

I think the over half-a-year wait did them some good.  the jokes felt fresh and it was enjoyable.

Movie actually wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be either.

Danecho1967

I learned you can have more shaky-cam than was in Cloverfield, more pause and meaningful glance-filled scenes with angst ridden teens than were in Twilight, and more ridiculously stupid makeup and costumes than were in The Fifth Element.  All in one movie!

I'm glad to hear this, the trailer didn't do much for me though

I learned the term "Sunday afternoon squeaker".

I learned that Mike has strong and confusing feelings about the Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie.

I learned that even when something is a tradition for over 70 years, the MC will still explain how it works.

Danecho1967

I learned that people (read teenaged fans of this series) will accept a concept that makes zero sense.

Okay, the point of randomly choosing 2 tributes from each district to fight until there's only one left alive, is to control the districts and keep them from rebelling again.  But...  That makes no sense!

You control people by threatening to do something negative if they do not comply.  Instead, we are to accept that they will comply because every year they have to watch their children die, in other words the (government?) continuously does something negative to them in order to keep them compliant.  That's not how humans work.

And so, we are supposed to believe that it took 74 years for...

I mean really... It's entirely antithetical to human nature, but millions of books sell and no one notices?  WTF ever happened to critical thought?

Thrifty

I don't think the point of the Hunger Games was control.  I think it was just capricious punishment.

Thrifty

I learned that in the future, seconds are slower.
